Amara's visited the vet today. Well I took her to the vet and they examined her leg. Since my mom is a cheapo she didn't get an x ray. But they did give me anti inflammatory medicine for her leg to give to her. And the noise sound from her nose they gave me antibiotics for the breathing problems. So yeah. Everything is ok. They told me to make sure she gets alot of rest. No walking up steps and running around to give her leg time to heal. I have to give her antibiotics twice a day. And anti inflammatory once a day. Until the medicine is gone. Then I may have to get an x ray or more medicine. So everyone Amara is alright. I'm pretty relieved now that I know that. But to calm everyone's worry. She is ok. |
Glad to hear she is ok! |

Glad your Yorkie is doing better. Please understand we are not putting you down, we are just worried about her leg. Most of us would have had the leg x-rayed to be sure. I understand that you live at home and that your mother pays the bills. I don't think she understands how delicate Yorkies little legs are. Maybe she did not do any research before she bought a Yorkie for you. Yorkies can be an expensive breed to adopt. They need really good Vet care, including dentals, shots, and heart worm and flea preventive and that is just the routine things. Please keep coming back we really want to help you raise your Yorkie and answer questions. Hugs |

Thanks everyone. I wanted to get a x ray. I really did. But my mom stole my sisters money and is having to pay her back so now every paycheck she has to pay my sister back some money. I wish I had all my money I would have gotten it. But I loaned it out to my mom and sister. My sister owes me though. |

At first I thought you may be a teenager living at home and you rely on your mother for financial support since you are a minor. But didn't you mention your "hubby"? Kinda confused on who is in charge of this puppy and it's vet bills. Is it your dog or your moms? |
She really needs an xray to determine nothing is wrong with her |

For the $70 you spent on meds that might not even be necessary you could have gotten an x-ray. Just because the vet palpates the vet doesn't and she doesn't make a sound doesn't mean its not broken. mom, hubby, sister... I don't know how old you are, who you are living with, or what your situation is but if Amara is your dog take some responsibility. |
While I agree with everyone about you needing to take initiative, I do understand that when the finances aren't yours it's hard to really take care of things. I too, do not know your living/financial situation, but i think should anything start to look even the slightest uncharacteristic you should take her back or to a diff vet. X-rays are expensive, but taking care of your baby and the peace of mind is priceless. Prayers for your baby :) |

Why do people get dogs when they cant afford to take care of them? This is a serious question. This dog needs xrays and waiting and waiting could make the problem more expensive or very hard to fix and she probably is not comfortable and possibly hurting. |
I have worked at a vet clinic for a very long time, and Veterinarians cant say the bone is not broken just by feeling. Scary, this would make me worry so much. Just curious, why is it your dog? But you dont take financial responsiblity for her? I hope nothing is broken, and even when dogs dont scream that doesnt mean they arent in pain, or that its not broken. I had my first dog when i was 16 and she cost me 3000 dollars her first year of life. IT was hard, but i took full responsiblity and paid for everything. I had to make payments, but that was fine with me. When i took ownership of her, i knew no matter what happened i would do everything she needed to be healthy and happy. And that meant all my money going toward her bills. And not spending any on my self. But i owed it to her. They cant tell you whats wrong, so its up to us to take them for the proper vet care when things happen. What will you do if something more severe happens? How will you pay for it? Or your mother? Sometimes things happen and its an emergency and it cant wait... then what will you do? |
oh! and might I add that pet insurance is as little as $26 a month, situations like this could be helped as x-rays are generally covered. Just a thought |
