Bellas nursing home visit About a week ago I shared that I wanted to take Bella to some of the nursing homes in our area for visits. We went last Fri. She was perfect and most of the people enjoyed her. :) I put her fall dress on and an American flag pin. She was quiet and let the people pet her. I'm looking so forward sharing her again. I'm hoping once a week between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Also, yesterday I went to spend the day with my brother, hip surgery, and while we were sitting in his room a lady walked by with a black lab for visits. That really excited me. A dog in a hospital on the floor. WOW!!!! |
Ahhh, I'll bet little Bella made their day! They get so lonely sometimes, especially this time of the year, and I've heard animals really cheer them up and brighten their day. You are doing a wonderful thing taking Bella to visit. Give her a big hug for me. |
That's wonderful. I know it brightens their day to see a furry friend. |
i have always wanted to do this with Miely. I want to take her to visit at the nursing hospital where my father died. We live 45 minutes away , but I know how important this is , to put a smile on someones face, that means the world to me. When I was in the hospital a woman would bring her Jack russlel terrier for visits. This was in the critical care unit , she was allowed to do this as her dog was a certified therapy dog. At the time I had MRSA, and everybody had to gown up/wear masks , but she could bring the dog in my room anyway, it was a great experience. |
That is so sweet! So glad to hear it went well!!!! :) |
Good on you! This is such a valuable service. I hope to do it one day when my Little Monster calms down. Our area is a major retirment area with lots of senior living places. Are you going to get certified? I checked in to it and it doesn't look too hard. |
They love to have doggies visit in the nursing homes. Many of them love doggies just as much as we do. Our hospital allows doggie visits - just not in icu. |
Im sure everyone had a grand time. I took Mina (yorkie) and Taffy (pom) to visit my mother on Halloween. They rode in the stroller and that made my mom smile. Taffy is my mother's dog and she could pet her without holding her. She is afraid that she will drop her baby so now she can be on the same level and love on her. |
:) Wonderful ! Thanks for sharing this story |
I'm not sure who was more blessed from the visit, the residents or myself. Bella is usually nuts over meeting people, but on the visit she was so calm and quiet. Pretty good for a three year old. I hadn't thought of getting her certified. Something to consider, thanks for the idea. :-) |
That was an amazing thing you did. You shared your baby's unconditional love with those that really needed it. You blessed them beyond belief. |
