AWESOME Bed Ramp So I was trying to find a good way to allow Pixie to get on/off the bed without having to jump (I don't let her jump off the couch either) and found this site: http://www.bestpetramp.com It's a little pricey, but are the bed ramps awesome! They're fully carpeted, have a very gradual slope and even have a railing on the side so they can't fall off! If only my husband was handy enough to build me something like this... I guess I'll be stuck buying it (whenever I can trust Pixie to not pee in bed anyway!) |
Hmmmm... Now I see someone started a thread on building stairs before I posted this.... ::sigh:: Wish my husband (or I) were handy.... |
I think both the stairs and ramps are great -- but far too expensive. I am sure you and your husband could make one for a fraction of the price. I know I could (and I'm a single 66-year-old lady). I've tackled far more difficult projects than that! Carol Jean |
Ramp 1 Attachment(s) I posted this in another thread, but will do so again. Here is a ramp my husband built for Edie. It is carpeted and has a rail so she can't fall off. It is clamped to the footboard, so it doesn't move. I like it because it is only 6 inches wide, allowing me to walk around the bed. Most of the stairs you buy are at least 18 inches wide. It probably cost 10$ to make. A ramp is a lot easier to build than stairs, for obvious reasons. Edie learned how to use it very quickly. First I put her on the top, then I put her halfway up...she took it from there. |

Where in Wi do you live? I live in Gurnee, Il and I have aset of stairs we ordered for Cali but when she was so tiny at 9 weeks she had trouble getting down, then my husband found the stairs he made for my last yorkie that matched the carpet and we are usuing them. If you don't live to far and want them you can have them,pm me we don't use them |
My brother is real good at building things, Im going to ask him to start making dog steps and ramps in his spare time. I will post them if he does. |
