Want to Build Bed Stairs I was wondering if anyone has ever built their own bed/couch stairs for their babies. I know whether I make one or buy one I want it to be made from wood so it's sturdy but I was just wondering if anyone has been able to successfully make one themselves from scratch. I found a set of stairs on Doctors Foster & Smith that I really like bc it's tall, made of wood and is covered with rug so it's slip free. (They are $89.99) Anyone have experience with this either? Harley has zero trouble getting onto and off my bed/couch etc but as far as my bed goes I would rather him use the stairs to help prevent knee problems in the future. |
Stairs I made some stairs for my little furbaby so he can get on my bed if you would like to know how i did it I can Private message you..Send me one and I will reply :) |
My husband made them and they are only two stairs but they are wide so she can lay on each stair and they are wood and he covered in carpet that matches are carpeting. We bought some online but they were so steep Cali couldn't get down with out her rear going over her head. |

I know Cookies Mommy posted pictures not long ago On the steps her Hubby made for Cookie. They was made out of hard styrafoam. and They seemed really nice look and work great. |
I think they would be very easy to make. I know that my son could make them for me. I thought about asking him to do that for Christmas or my birthday. It would be a wonderful gift that I would certainly appreciate. My pup is already amazing me at the way he can climb. I was in the kitchen and looked in the front room today, and he was runing across the top of the sofa. I don't have a clue how he even got up on the sofa. But, I'm sure he'll do it in front of me before long. Good luck! Carol Jean |
We made a ramp for the boys and they use it all the time. The only trouble is that they like playing on it! We probably made it a little too big but I just wanted to make sure that they had enough width to be safe. They chase each other up and down, it's hard to stop them. We just used 1/4 plywood with 1x2 for the frame to nail it to, then we covered it with berber carpeting glued down with odor free glue and let it air out and dry for a few days. The cats also like it for a scratching post  ... |
1 Attachment(s) here's Edie's ramp. Her Dad made it in a few hours. Fully carpeted. Cost about 10$ in materials. |
The stairs my husband made are about 16 inches wide by 16 inches long. It took us about 1/2 hour of working with her on up and down and she has never jumped off the bed, she always uses the stairs. 2 weeks ago she startd sleeping in my bed and she will go down during the night and use her wee wee pad and run back up to bed. It's great. |

1 Attachment(s) At first we were going to make Aria some stairs but then gave it more thought and figured she could trip while coming down..so instead we built a ramp. She loved it and it was easy for her to run up and down it without tripping. :) |
