Marking Issues Hi! I will be getting a 6 month old Yorkie through a rehoming. We took him home tonight for a few hours to see how he interacts with my Puggle. They got along so well!!! He will be coming on Friday for good. We do know that he marks when 1. He is overly excited and 2. when we go to pick him up. He also cowers. But he is also very friendly! He is not fixed yet either. Do you have any suggestions for how we can derail that behavior? We did have him go outside several times to where our Puggle goes and he went poo and pee out there! But the marking is a concern. thoughts? |
I will bump this up for you, so you can get more responses. My thoughts would be to get him neutered as soon as his permanent teeth are all in so that he won't need to be under anesthesia more than once in case he needs some baby teeth removed. You can buy belly bands in the meantime. It sounds like submissive urination and not especially a marking issue. Google it and you can learn a lot about it. Always delay greeting a pup with submissive urination until they calm down and don't show excitement, so they can respond as calmly as possible. I hope someone else has some ideas as well. It is probably just a puppy issue that will be outgrown. |
Neuter him. I had the same problems with Thor and Little Bit but once they were neutered it stopped. Good Luck |
