Hi all, I am on my phone but Jackson is good!

I picked him up around 2 and he's very woozy and whiny right now. I had to get straight to babysitting and they called me earlier than I expected so I had to bring him with me. He's sleeping right now on the couch. Poor fella. I'm getting him home ASAP- I should be done here by 4:45. But he's okay right now, just very tired and woozy.

I just saw this thread, but I am glad that Jackson had a smooth trip to the dentist!!! Give him lots of hugs and kisses from Max and me!!

He just ate a whole can of his wet food, he loved that. Seems more comfortable now that we are home, he's sleeping on my bed. But definitely milking it, he's such a whiner! Poor guy. Those pain meds should kick in soon. He seems more relaxed now.

Soooo glad we got it over with and done with!

I couldn't find this thread. I'm so glad Jackson is ok and sleeping it off. I'm sure he was starved.:)

So I just looked over everything. It looked like what he had done was a vital pulpotomy. Anyone ever heard of it? The tooth is still alive so it wasn't really a "root canal" in any way.

Oh they also found a dead tooth, one of his top row small teeth. So they pulled that since infection was about to start apparently. She said that could have been bothering him more so than the canine tooth.

Good news was that she was really worried about the indent in his upper palate being really deep and maybe almost touching the bone but it was not and she believes he may even grow some of it back since he's still young enough!

Other than that, his teeth were pretty healthy, but she cleaned off all tarter that had started on those canine teeth. She did say he had sensitive gums and they bled a bit, but she said it wasn't totally abnormal, he may just have soft gums.

Either way, I am sooo glad I brought him in when I did -- before that rotten tooth started getting really bad, or even more rotten, and then of course the major issue with the canine tooth.

Very happy to hear that all went well and all is fixed and perfect. It is a very good thing that you brought Jackson in when you did so that the bad tooth was discovered. Sending huggles to Mr. Jackson after his big day. I'm going to have dentals done on my boys this coming year....hope I am as brave as you are!

Just seeing this now and am happy to hear that Jackson is doing fine and that his teeth are now all healthy and sparkling clean :D

it's amazing all the problems that can turn up with thier teeth. And how many yorkies end up doing just fine with none!

Hope Jackson has a speedy and peacefull recovery.

Thanks! I was surprised at how "brave" I actually was, LOL. Usually I am a woos when it comes to leaving him anywhere.

Will this be your boys first dentals?

Yes, this will be their first. Their teeth starting started accumulating plaque fairly recently. I don't know if it is just their age or that they haven't had any chews lately. After the latest Merrick scare, I stopped giving them anything. We need to order more Himalayans from Ryan.
