Morkie? Or What's a Morkie? Also I would like a teacup male and i am not sure if it's a good idea? I heard that the male should be smaller then female to mate. I have a toy girl 1year old has been I heat twice and is 7 pounds. What type of test should I have to be sure she is healthy to mate?! How old should boy and girl be to mate? |
Why are you mating her? Fix your baby and let her be a pet. There are so many yorkies in shelters and rescues. |
Around here in Miami fl there aren't shelters with full breeds.. I'm want more puppies. Not to sell but to keep . |
A Morkie or Yorktese is just a fancy way of saying a Yorkie and Maltese were mixed. There are plenty of Yorkie and Maltese mixes in shelters waiting for homes. Yorkies and Maltese are just that - Yorkies and Maltese. There aren't different size categories. They are both toy breeds. So there is no such thing as a teacup. It is a term that is used to try and draw people to the small size and get more money. The smaller the dog, the more careful you will have to be. And if a "breeder" bred for very small size, they are not in it for the breed but for the money that they can get from "purse puppies". If you want to breed, start checking out books from the library, buy some from the internet, go to shows, find a mentor, familiarize yourself with the breeds, pick the breed you prefer, and then consider breeding. There is no reason to mix breeds. After a long period of studying, then if you decide breeding is for you and your dogs conform to the standard (have them evaluated) and are medically sound (including their lines), then re-evaluate if breeding is for you. You should be testing bile acids, general bloodwork, eyes, knees, hips, thyroid, etc. on both. |
Thanks so much for info |

I agree with the above poster, do some research before you decide to breed. This forum has a plethora of information regarding the matter. |
the reason so many dogs are in shelters is because of people who have no business breeding and only bred to have more puppies. more puppies are a lot of work and responsibility not to mention breeding toy dogs is extremely dangerous and hard and could lead to your pregnant dog dying and thousands of dollars worth of vet bills. best to leave the breeding to those that know what they are doing (IE: show breeders) and if you want more pups go rescue some from the shelter that were there because someone bred just for fun and realized how hard and challenging it is to raise several pups at once. please don't add to the pet overpopulation and all the mixed breed "mutts" out there with no home and no one to love them. |

BTW- there is no such thing as a teacup yorkie. It's a marketing term by unethical breeders. |
Take a look over to the left <--------------- follow this advice. Thank you and have a good night.:) |
Very classy! Megan |
If you want to breed to have " more puppies" you should not be breeding- that is not a reason to breed.. if you knew anythng about it you would know. Take the advice from the people here and spay your dog. |
