question? What is the best way to trim the hair between the eyes? I know my groomer uses like a shaver thing but I am scared to death to try it. Should I? Dix is 18 weeks old and 3 pounds. I always have a top knot in but the hair that grows on her nose between her eyes gets shaggy and when it starts getting in her eyes it makes them water. I try to keep it trimmed back with sissors when i groom her at home but it does not seem to work so well. OR should I just take to to the groomer more often to let them handle this task? I give her a Bath at home once a week and daily brushing (sometimes 2-3) I trim her nails myself too. I just cant bring myself to shave that part of her face. How do you all control it? |
I use a little moustache/sideburn groomer from Walmart. It took Tibbe about 2 minutes to get used to it. It's very safe and has never nicked or cut Tibbe in 2 years. |
I personally use those little round-ended baby scissors to trim that part of his face - when he's asleep!! :) Other than that - our groomer offers a little 'tidy-up' of just Harry's face whenever we want it for about £5 ($8 - ish?!!?) I don't know if they all offer this service, sorry! Sally + Harry x |
I guess that is more the question I was trying to ask! What do I use if I do try to do it? Thanks for reading my mind and finding a method to my sometimes maddness posts! :D I guess there is not a setting on them or anything? I dont want to shave her bald..... maybe that is just my fear and not actually the doning it part. Going to walmart in the morning... I will check into one of them. I was just going to take her to the groomer while I was running my errands but she is not going to be there tomorrow and we have puppy obedience cass saturday and it helps if she can see what she is trying to learn. :D |

Yes mine does this, pretty top know with bow, trims this part and inside the ears and nails for $5.00. I usally just walk in and she drops what she is doing and does this... (we LOVE or groomer) But, she is amost 45 minutes away and I was wondering this for my in home grooming days for when the weather gets bad...snow snow and more snow. I dont drive in snow. lol |
I just use small scissors as well...and while they sleep is best!!! |
Do you know if they sell the sissors at walmart too? I will just pick up both when I am there and see what works best. We do not have a petco or petsmart close to us ..... i may just have to order those online. |
I use the little small scissors too. The ones that have the blunt, rounded edges. I am scared of poking them in the eye. Dudley is really good though, he will sit just as still. Kayla is another story. I try to cover her eyes with my hand and trim the hair. Not easy. lol!!!! |
The little trimmer that I use takes such a small layer off that you cannot shave them bald or anything unless you just keep rerunning it over the area. It only takes a small bit off at a time and you have total control. I cut less drastically with this than I do with the little blunted scissors. Often I trim a bit too much hair at a time with them - can't do it with this little trimmer. I use it on the ears, ear edges and around his perianal area. It uses a single AA battery and rinses under the sink. It is just foolproof and apparently hasn't sharp enough eldges to cut skin. It is very very effective and I think it was only $9.99. I found it in the Pharmacy Department of Walmart hanging near the end of an aisle with shaving cream, etc., as I recall. |

I get my blunt-end scissors from the baby department of drug/department stores. |

I did. I tried to see if I could nick myself before I would trust to press on it some on Tibbe and it just never would nick. It never has nicked him in all the 3 years I have used it. I'm so scared of real clippers but these little things are just right for someone like me. |
