Need rec for strong chew toy Lexi is a strong chewer (thankfully toys & not furniture-for the most part) & I would really like something that is safe to eat should that happen or are totally indestructable. She likes chewies that have texture to them (little "bumps", etc.)I have bought her 5 different type chew bones & some she has eaten pieces off in minutes which they state small pieces were okay but she would eat more if allowed to so these are not acceptable. I don't allow my furbabies to eat raw hides. I would prefer something that is nonstaining too. |
Have you tried Nylabones? My destructive little dude loves these - they do get worn down though. He also loves his Kong. :) |
Have you tried bully sticks? |
Yes, I tried Nyla bones & the one she ate 1/3 of before I realized that she could actually do that. Scared me! There has been one that has lasted fairly well but I sure have to watch her on it as the ends are worn down some. Another type with rope on the ends she started destroying the first day. I have given bully sticks to my Shih Tzu previously & they ended up with a terrible mess in their beard with face hair matted but maybe she wouldn't as much. |
Kongs are pretty tough. They make a black one for heavy chewers that is indestructable, but I think it may only come in the bigger sizes. The red ones are good too. I'm not sure if one shape/style is more sturdy than the others. I have only bought the orginal shape. |
It sounds like she likes those Nyla bones...what about getting a size that's too big for her, so she can't really consume it? I buy larger than needed chews for my kiddos, bc it's especially needed for Marcel. Wylie still finishes stuff, bc he is an aggressive chewer like your baby. |
My little chew does well with Nylabone Flexis. My very aggressive 16lb chewer has just been switched to another type of Nyla. Mayve it's the Dura type. I didn't like how closely he had to be watched with the other ones. Still little pieces come off of this one. Don't like that abokut it. But no animal parts are allowed here, so it will have to do... It is a tooth breaker, but his teeth are insured, so I guess it's okay. |
There are what is considered to be indestructible chew toys. Just google "indestructible dog toys" and you will find some that way. |
Kongs that you fill with peanut butter or yogurt and freeze are the best |
