Last minute help?! Hi y'all! So in only 3 days I will be bringing my baby girl Emmie home and I just wanted to ask some last minute questions to make sure I have everything ready!! Number 1! - not really a question but any tips on houstraining and best way and easiest way to house train would be greatly appreciated!! -should I free feed or schedule feed? -when is the appropreate time to start taking her to the groomer? That's it thankyou!! |
Yay!! 3 days!! Housetraining.... Be consistent!!! Mine are all potty pad trained. Luckily for me, I really only had to teach my oldest who in turn showed the younger ones te ropes! If you are potty pad training, keep her in a small area (such as a playpen) with just enough room for her bed, food/water, and pad... I gradually made the "pen/playarea" larger and larger until he got the idea. If she is out with you, take her about every 30 Minutes and put her on her pad. If she potties, praise her and give her a treat!! I still treat mine EVERYTIME I see them go..(and my oldest is 3)... We free feed, but everyones opinion is different... You want To make sure she is eating the first few weeks though, so a schedule in te beginning may be better. Also, keep some nutrical on hand in case her sugar drops. Grooming... Hmmm... Depends on her!!! |
Thankyou for the it is very useful and helpful :) |
I schedule feed mine but leave water available all the time so that it is easier to tell when they need to go outside to do their business. I never use wee pads. My dogs have always be outdoor trained starting a 4 weeks for Roxy, Zoey, and Lucy- I had them from birth because Cozy is their mom. My golden Lucky I got him at 6 weeks and he was housebroken by 9 weeks but I was crazy neurotic about watching him for the slightest sign he needed to go out. I got Cozy at 4 months but she was not fully housebroken til she was almost 8months. She would sneak and pee at the back door. She never alerted like my golden would. He would always whine when he had to got out. One day she just started to cry and sin when she needed to go out and it has stuck. |
Thankyou for the advice!!! :) |
