Wirey, coarse, sparse hair I got my first Yorkie, from a breeder, in March. He is so wonderful that I wanted another. I decided to adopt from a Yorkie rescue this time. This pup is five months old, supposedly purebred YT and her hair is really different from his. His hair is very soft and silky. Hers coarse, sparse and part of it sticks straight out. She will be groomed, for the first, time next week. I am anxious to see how she will look with a close haircut. She is a precious little dog and I really hope this will improve. Has anyone out there had a pup with this kind of hair? If so, did it change with age? |
Yes, the hair does change as they get older, but I'm not sure if you'll see much of an improvement if it's wiry. I had a Cairn Terrier and their hair is very wiry, but the right haircut can make a huge difference on how it looks. There's something called a red leg yorkie who has wiry hair and old time breeders use to use them in their breeding programs to help darken the blue of the coat. I don't think many do this anymore, but your dog could be a throwback. Bless you for giving her a good home! |
Thanks! Thank you. |
