7lb & 3lb adult yorkies...anyone??? Does anyone have a 7lb yorkie AND a 3-3.5lb yorkie that are both adults? If so, would you post a photo so I can see the size comparison. I'm thinking half the weight...half the size...but maybe this is not true? ZoE's breeder called me the other week to see how ZoE was doing and to ask if I'd be interested in a tiny female she has available that is only going to be around 2.5lbs full grown. I told her that while I've seriously been thinking about getting another puppy, I really don't want one that small and am ideally looking for one that will be 5-6 lbs as an adult (which is what ZoE was projected at, but she grew a lil bigger). Well, she called back with the names of a couple of other breeders who she knows that might have puppies. Everyone that I called with pups available soon, has only small girls. 3-3.5lbs estimated adult size. I've never had a yorkie that small, prior to ZoE, mine have always been 5-6 lbs and that's the size I really like. Would a 7lb yorkie & a 3.5lb yorkie go well together? I'm not sure I'm thinking straight....I just might be being swayed by a cute lil pup face. |
I have a 10 lb Yorkie and my dad has a 5lb Yorkie. They play together fine despite the size difference. I'm surprised that so many breeders have females that are estimated to be 3-3.5 lbs in size. What weight are they at 12 weeks? |

I think they would be fine together. Yes 3 lbs is tiny but 7 lbs is still small also. I have a 7 lb and a 15 lb and they are fine together. I like that 5 lb size the best also. It just seems like the perfect size. The small ones are really adorable though and i can see why some people love that size |
I think 10 lbs is a nice sturdy size personally. My Elvis is 9 lbs...we met a 2.5 'teacup' from a pet store...it was the size of his head! Elvis smelled the lady's dog and she thought he was going to eat her puppy and freaked out...3.5 and 7 should be fine though. Check Dexter & Peppermint from Dexter's Ruff Life...I think they are around there. |
I don't have two adults but I do have a 7 pound 2 1/2 yo, Ziva and my 16 week puppy is exactly 3 lbs. She is a tough little thing and holds her own with Ziva playing gently. I think I would be ok with her size if she quit growing.. but 5+ lbs would be better, I'm hoping for a more even match so Ziva doesn't have to give in and Abby gets a fair turn. |
2 Attachment(s) Well, here's a picture of Jackson, 16lbs, and Bandit, 4.5lbs [first picture]. And also Jackson with 6lb Nala. Jackson LOVES them.... he plays sooo great with Nala, they love to wrestle. In this video, they were both younger. He was 13lbs and she was still 4.5lbs. |
1 Attachment(s) It really depends on the dogs and their personalities. Here is a pic of Emmie Lou who is now 7 1/2 lbs (having a hard time getting rid of that baby weight or the vet says it's really just less food needed..lol) and Fufu who is her daughter and almost 3 and half lbs and 10 months old. They get along perfect, but both are very easy going :) I have another almost 3 1/2 lb yorkie male and no problems there either :) |

7lbs and 3.5 lbs Yorkie shouldn't be a problem. Its more to the personality of the dogs. My friend has a 70lbs Irish Setter and she is so gentle with my 10lbs Yorkie. They play well. She'd lie down so that he can be of the same height with her and play. |
It really depends upon the personality of the dogs. My Peppy is just under 5 lbs. and Lollie is 6.5 lbs. They do great together. My neighbor and dear friend Liza and 2 lb. Butterbean and 7 lb. Maggie with 3 others yorkies fitting in between plus two miniature schnauzers and a shih tzu. They get along well together and most of the time little Butterbean rules the roost. Sorry, I don't have pictures. |
Wylie is about 7 lbs, Marcel is 3.3 lb, and Pfeiffer is about 3.5 lbs. They are all great together. As puppies though, I kept them separate from the adults when we were gone until they'd gotten closer to their adult weight, and until I felt it was safe to all be together (not due to fighting or anything, just due to size diff and age etc). |
