Update Sidney/Gidget It's been one week since DH brought home Sidney. Things are going well overall. There have been no fights. We did what was suggested here and just let them have time and work things out. Sidney follows Gidget around and wants to do everything she does. Gidget gets tired of it at times and hides from her. They are starting to lay together. They have started to play some together, not a lot yet. Everything seems to be going pretty good, except for Sidney's pottying. She is stubborn and spunky. We will think we are making progress and she's doing well, and then she will decide she wants to try to tell us where she is going to go. Any advice on a stubborn pottyer would be appreciated! |
I'm so happy things are going well for you and the girls! I don't have much advice on the potty issue, other than to just be persistent and be more stubborn than Sidney.:) |
So glad things are going well with your girls. I can't wait to see what advice you get on the stubborn potty habits as well. Mikki tends to be the same way. But at least they are not fighting! I had a week of heck with the fighting between my two! |
I'm so glad to hear they are getting along together :) The only suggestion that I have regarding potty is to not let her out of your site. Keep her on a leash and take her out frequently. :) |

I would just say make sure that Gidget has a good place to hide and get a little 'puppy break' when she tires of all the puppy shenanigans. Ringo got up on the back of a big chair where he could relax and look out the window. Boy was he bummed when Lucy was big enough to get up there with him! |
Sounds like you've had a great first week. Sorry, I have no advise other than consistency for the potty issues... if she's following Gidget's lead, hopefully she'll pick up on the pottying too ;) |
It sounds like things are going great. It's so nice that they are getting along so well. I'm sure one day they won't want to be apart.:) |
Glad things are going so well in the first week! The only advice I can give about potty training would be crate her, take her to her potty spot and some play time (dont let her out of your sight while playing) once you notice her getting tired/bored or Gidget getting annoyed take Syd to her potty spot once more, then back in the crate.....repeat this untill you notice her catching on and slightly increase her playing time. With Violet we chose the bell training, and we did the same with her, she is finally after a week ringing the bells on her own to go out and has since earned her reward of more and more time out of her crate to play/free roam! Hope this helps and good luck! |
Glad that things are working out so well! :) |
I'm glad to hear that Gidget and Sidney are getting along well! :) |
Glad that they are getting a long. |
I think it's awesome that the girls aren't fighting at all. For two female pups, just tolerating each other that this point is a great sign. How are you doing the potty training? Are they both pad trained? If so they using the same pad area? I'm still so back & forth on whether to get another or not. It's such a commitment and I'm so worried about what's best for ZoE. Would she be happier being the only pup and getting all the attention or would she like the company of another pup for the hours I'm gone from home? Just wish I could read her mind...lol |
this is great news so happy they are tolerating each other they will be best friend before long... I have to say for pottying just take her out often. She is still getting use to her new surroundings. If your consistent she will catch on...:) |
