Peeved So I decided to take Kaos for a walk to petsmart to look around at the new christmas stuff. While we were there, some lady stopped us to look at Kaos. She said she had a girl and was looking to breed her. Out of curiosity I asked how big she was. She said she was 3.5lbs! I asked if she ever breeded before and she said no. I told her it wasn't safe to breed her, that she was too small and could be injured if she were to get pregnant. She then told me that she already had a male, and he was 1 year old. I did what I could to explain why she shouldn't breed, but it was so frustrating. I feel bad for that little girl. :( Oh an before I left she told me my yorkie was the wrong color. |
Oh man...some people are too stubborn. She added a jab to you because she knew you were right and she had to come back with something silly....if you didn't have your baby with you she probably would have said your belt doesn't match your shoes... |
Why in the world would someone breed a 3.5 lb yorkie? Some people just don't care about the dog - only the money. So sad for the little girl to have such a person for an owner. |
Just sad :( :( :( |
This is an all too common and all too sad situation. Thank you for trying to educate this yorkie ignorant woman. Perhaps something you said will stick with her and will change her mind. I've also found that many people have no concept of yorkie weight and tend to gestimate. |
Very sad. Some people are so greedy they will do anything to get money even put a small baby through pregnancy :( |
Theres no telling someone like her they know it all |

I totally respect you for taking the initiative and educating a BYB (because we totally know this woman is one if she's going to breed such a tiny girl). I think she was just upset because she knew you were right, and from what i've seen of Kaos (vids) he's gorgeous and not the "wrong" color. Good job nonetheless :D |
What is wrong with people ? Even an ignorant person that loved their dog, would look at a tiny dog and wonder if it was safe to breed it. I hope the lady was wrong about the 3 1/2 pounds. I hope her Vet says, no way ! Your dog would probably die. Her snide remark about your dog was so rude ! We think Kaos is pretty handsome ! TRIVIA: A Vet tech. and I were chatting as he weighed Rubin, he said, Most people don't really know what their Yorkies weigh. When we ask, they might say 5 pounds, ( most under estimate by 2 or 3 pounds,) and when we put the Yorkie on the scale and say ' 8 and 1/2 pounds,' they are shocked. I guess they think little is better. It is just the opposite with large breeds, their people always think they weigh more than they do. |
I suppose the last dig was to get back at you for your attempt to educate her. Ignore it! It's sad when people want to breed tinies. You did all you could and that's the best anyone can do. My sympathies are with her little girl. |
That is just sad... It is sad how many people want to breed their dog just because they think that there dog is cute... I totally agree with them yea your dog is cute and all but what right does that give you to breed? That just makes for a lot of unwanted and sadly unloved dogs! There are two dogs in my life that are unloved, two labs... they are starved of love and affection, and it just breaks my heart to see them treated this way. I do what I can to give them loving and it just isn't enough, I wish my sister would give the dogs away to someone who would love them the way they should be!! It was very rude and VERY immature for that lady to add that about your dog... Not the right color, 'coughs' ah Yorkie come in all sizes shapes and colors... and she wants to breed her dog... SCARY!! Sure sounds like she cares more about the money then her poor furbaby. I sure feel sorry for her little princess... UGH!! She should give her little lady to me... LOL I would LOVE a female Yorkie... She would be safe with me, in fact she would be spoil rotten to the core lol. |
That is so sad!!! Poor little girl! |
