Moving Advice Needed Ok, beginning of last month my husband got laid off from his job of 10 years. He had some great leads and followed them. God worked in our situation and he now has a job that he will start Mid November. We currently live in Florida and we are now going to be moving to Northern SC near the NC/SC state line. The company he is going to work for is in Fort Mill. Not sure exactly where we will find a house just yet. I have lived in our home for 10 years, I have not had to move with my babies so I am a little nervous about it. I really want this to be as stress free as possible for them. I would appreciate any and all suggestions. |
Wow, congrats on the new job! I guess just try to minimize their stress by keeping their stuff the same as much as you can. Their beds, bowls, food etc. You might want to switch to bottled water before the move so they can adjust and keep using that after the move. I think the most important thing will be the 'vibes' you will be giving off, so try to keep yourself as calm as possible. They will adjust and be happy as long as they have their family. Good Luck |
I moved from Boston to Florida, I kept her dog bed toys and food bowls in the car with me so I could access them right away... when we got to the new house I took her outide, let her sniff around the yard and while we were doing that I had my daughter carry in her BEDS and set up her food bowl and put her toys near her bed to make her feel more at home... I would maybe gate them in the kitchen until you have your new home set up so they will smell their own furniture and feel more at home when free to roam.;) |
I think as long as you have the same furniture (most of it anyway), and other belongings, along with their normal stuff, they will do just fine. It would be good if someone were home with them most of the time at first too so they don't feel abandoned. They will quickly learn this is home and everything will be ok. We moved from Nebraska to Texas just over a year ago and went through about the same thing. We lived in that house for a year and then just moved a month ago to a new home here. Moving It doesn't matter how far your moving, moving is hard on every one, BUT keeping their STUFF, together is important, but mostly, it's YOU, your love, your calmness, patience (ya I know patience) :eek: with the "troubles" that's what they really need. You are their people, their pack, as long as they have you, they will adjust, probably better than you LOL. And BTW congrats on the new job and the good luck on the move. You will do well. |
