Dry eye. My lil one have a very dry eye. I took her to the vet and she said that Jordyn don't have a tear duck in her eye to make tears. She blink all the time and some time she won't open it, she has been on 2 antibiotics and tear drops. The vet said this in common in Yorkies, I want to know if anyone of you had this problem or know what I can do. Thank you. |
I'm sorry your pup and you are dealing with this condition. Contact MaddiesMommie: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/member.php?u=19192710. Her girl had an extreme case that required surgery. She knows a lot about the various meds to deal with dry eye. If you can, take your pup to an ophthalmologist to confirm the diagnosis and to determine the best treatment plan. You may want to re-post your thread in the Sick & Injured forum to see if you get more responses. |
I have a Pekingese that has dry eyes. He doesn't make tears. The vet told us it may be from an auto-immune response and is very common in this breed. It started about a year ago. He has to take cyclosporin for the rest of his life. He is 7 y.o. |
There are many old threads on dry eye, although most of them do not involve lack of tear ducts. Here is a brief one: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sic...a-dry-eye.html If you do a search for all of Ladymom's posts, you will find a bunch more. Or Google "yorkietalk dry eye." |
Thank you all for your help. |
Dry eye My Rocky gets compounded eye drops from Fosters and Smith by mail - he needs his drops twice a day. They cost about $25/month w/free shipping. |
