Confession/confess! Am I alone here? Does your Yorkie shower with you? Ever? Anyone? Come on, someone has to have at least once!?! This is how it started for us... I got my Scoobers, he's a rescue pup mill reject came equip with MAJOR fear, socialization, behavioral issues. One of those issues was fear of water in the bath. Mainly standing water. So I went and bought a new shower head the kind with a double head one on top one on a "rope" with a handheld sprayer (we have them in every shower now actually). Anyways it worked wonders I could "bath" him at home myself now and he wasn't terrified. Once he got bigger I was thankful I had this shower sprayer to wash him made it easier. Scoobers kept growing, and growing and growing! From under 10# at 5 months to a staggering 21# when he had a bit of weight on him! Finally I was getting wet well soaked trying to 'bath' him. :newarrow:So I tossed on my swim suit to close the curtain and wash him he did great with the curtain closed he just sat there! Then it became our routine, he'd get in the shower with me every other morning or so, I'd grab the hand held spray him down, wash/condition and he would too, while I'd wash off he'd actually just sit patiently at the end of the tub away from the main spouts spray and wait for me to switch to the hand held to wash him off. I started Princess this way right away as she was still a pup when I got her. Elvis took baths at first I tried the shower thing (he must have thought I was on drugs LOL because) he looked at me that way and dove through the curtain in one swift gazelle like move! Anyways Elvis showers with me now as long as I can catch him from hiding under my bed when he realizes it's shower time... oh! I only shower one dog at a time...taking a shower with three dogs now that's just weird... |

Haha, I love what you do with your dog. |
LOL! & thanks |
I have and will when I'm in a rush to get us both showered. I wash us both together and we blow dry our hair together. |
Lol! Nooooo don't do that yet!!! But Mainly because I'm a bath person!! But Mack is my "toe licker".... Every Morning he waits patiently for me to get out of the bath so he can lick My toes!!! Now about a week ago, my 14 year kid son decided To give Mack a bath..... While he was taking one!! Ha |
Showering with your Yorkie is not weird at all. At least to this 'crazy Yorkie Lady' Gracie follows me into the bathroom and if I am in the shower she thinks it is fine to jump in with me. She cries when I close the door on her. Rubin has taken a bath of sorts with me I was enjoying a rare bubble bath and he jumped into the tub. DH ran and got the camera and has pictures of us in the bubble bath (Bubbles make it a very G rated picture.) But one bubble bath shared was enough ! LOL |
I DO!!! lol DH thinks I'm crazy but its soooo much easier on both me and my furbutts. I throw on my swim suit and put them in the shower. This way WHEN I get soaked its not such a big deal! Bella will actually JUMP INTO the bathtub if shes in there while I'm taking a bath!! So not She gets locked out! lol She only does this with me. The kids can take a bath with her in the bathroom and she just naps on the floor! |
I have many times! It use to be one bath per week then it went to every other night now its I have to sneak away to bath alone lol it's so awesome though :) |
Kiko will come in the bathroom we me. She'll peek into the shower, but she doesn't get in it with me, just wait s for me to get out. Now we used to have a 100lb. lab mix that would occasionally try and get in the bath tub with my husband. If he shut her out of the bath, she would lay up againt the door and wait for him. |
That's how I've always done it...is there some other way?! Seriously though, I do shower them because it's so much easier & keeps them calmer. In fact, I can't remember the last time they had a "bath". |
There was the one time when it is was as thunderstorm and Brandi is terrified of thunderstorms, she jumped in the show with me. She also hates water, that's how scared she was. For the most part no Brandi doesn't take showers with me mainly because she hates water. |
I have heard of a lot of people doing it but I can't imagine that Jackson would EVER cooperate to do that?! He does not like the water spraying onto his face. He deals with baths but I don't think he would ever stand in the shower with me. Mine is like not a bath, only a standing shower, so I don't even know how I'd do it LOL |
Wow.. I never thought about showering with my yorkies, and actually, that may be a good idea. I have one yorkie that is terrified of water and it breaks my heart every time I have to give him a bath, he gets completely stressed that he has a hard time catching his breath. I do, however, shower with my parrot. |
Chloe always follows me to the bathroom with a toy and lies on the rug waiting for me to get finished, whether it's a bath or shower. She licks my toes and ankles as I dry off and waits for me to lay the towel down for her so she can roll all over it as if she's trying to get the scent on to herself. Furbabies are funny! |
Princess is horrible at taking baths in the tub (I finally switched to the kitchen sink), so I tried bringing her into the shower with me as others suggested. OMGsh, what a nightmare! She clawed the heck out of me as she climbed to my neck & head for safety! She was clearly traumatized & I had scratches 6-8" long. Even though she hasn't been bathed in the tub in months if I just turn on the water without starting the shower she goes MIA...wonder if she'll ever trust that 'evil' thing again.:p |
