Molly It started last night and she is doing it again as I type this. She keeps digging at her ears and sneezing. I dont know if I mentioned this or not but Molly has cataracts and is vision impaired and when I first got her, her little eyes were watering so bad. The vet told me she thinks it could be allergies and that I should try benedryl. I have not given her anything yet because I am just not sure. I do keep cleaning her eyes with a warm rag and her ears are clean. Her eyes have gotten a lot better, they only water once in awhile now but the digging at the ears and sneezing is getting worse. What should I do? |
She should probably be checked to see if she has an ear infection. That can be so painful for them. Sneezing and eyes watering does sound like allergies. I hate to give mine the shots but Kayla had to have an allergy shot last Friday and then the vet said to start her on Benedryl in a week. We give her 1/2 tsp. of Children's Benedryl. It does help but I hate giving it too because it makes them so sleepy. Good luck with your baby and if that vet doesn't do something for her I would find one that would. Allergies are miserable for them too. |
It sounds like it could be allergies. Callie has allergies and takes Hydroxyzine and a new symptom she developed this year was itchy ears. When she was rubbing them I took her to the vet and she looked in her ears and put the qtip in there to get a sample to look and see if there was an infection she could not see and there was not so she said make sure I am giving her the allergy medicine which I had not been doing everyday because the weather had gotten cooler and sure enough no more itchy ears. If they do start itching I give her the allergy medicine and then after a little bit they dont itch any more. If a vet has checked her ears and there is no infection then I would think it is allergies. I hope this post made sense I am so darn tired :) |

Yes the vet told me it could be allergies but she wants me to give her benedryl and I am not sure about that. Does anyone else give their dogs this? Isnt there a medicine the vet can perscribe for her that would be better? I just want to make sure I am doing everything right for this little Queen |
