That is how it starts and then..... along comes your next furbaby! I used to search petfinder all the time. Then I really started wanting another one. Then, I started emailing about them. Then, got discouraged because none was working for me. Then, well, now I have Mikki that came from a local gas station! :p:p

Mmhmm. I used to do that all the time. Was looking to see if I could "rescue" any Yorkies that were free or very cheap, get them altered, and at least get them out of bad environments. No plans on keeping any of them. Then Rylee came up on my FB page. Got him (out of nowhere). It has cured my Petfinder surfing. :) I love the boy, but no way in this world do I want another dog right now..not even for a few months. There aren't enough hours in the day.

Same problem. I look on petfinder, eBay classifieds, newspapers... Yeah. It's bad. I love to see them! They are so cute and I want to help them all(this is bad and later results in animal hording):( but yes I cant deal with another Bailey right now!! She's crazy, loud... But cute, snuggaly, and mine!!! But i think my boo boo bear would get a little jealous with me, she's the queen!

That would be my worry. I love paying attention to Gizmo, but I think he would be hurt if he had to share his Momma. Or even worse..Dun, dun, dun...His Cat Teaser!!!! Oh the horror!:p

I used to do that but decided not to keep putting myself through all that angst - it just wasn't worth it. Unless you truly are in the market for another dog, going to these sites just stirs up all the wanting to save a little dog and leaves you feeling sorry that you really can't save it. Try crosswords or anything that will get your mind off it!

He would get used to it. Rosie did and she was the only baby for 4 years!! :eek:
I know I am a bad influence! You think I am bad, my DH has got it bad. He almost brought home another Yorkie a few days ago!! :eek::eek::eek: I almost passed out! Two is plenty for us! :p

I cant ell you to stay away because I was looking at the exact same ad!!! LOL And my Violet isnt even home yet!!!

I say if you have the funds.....do it! Giz will probebly love having another playmate!!

That is what I thought about my DH too. Do you remember my story!? :p DH loves Mikki! He is glad we got her. But I was scared to death that I was going to be "toast" when he saw her. It all worked out!! See, I am a bad influence.

I cant look at those sites it makes me sad and I want to save them all but I cant so if I start even thinking about going to one of those sites I go play with or hold Callie. If you are not ready or cant get another one right now try to stay away from those sites.

The way i stopped myself going on those sites in the UK, was to start writing to MPs and councillors to complain about puppy mills/farms. I look at sites offering puppies and check that they are licenced breeders. If not, i write to the local council.
For every puppy bought, there will be an older desperate dog being put down. :(
Please visit a local rescue if you want another dog. :thumbup:
Even if you dont want to adopt a rescue dog, have a look at the rescue pages and see how many dogs are begging to be given a second chance.
Last year in the Uk 126,000 stray and abandoned dogs were picked up. 20 dogs every day were put down...thats almost one dog put down every hour of every day, and i'm sure USA was much worse :(:(
I don't want to rain on your parade, all puppies are cute, but breeding has got out of hand.

I just did a search of that phone number in the ad to see what comes up. Just take a look and it will make you think twice about buying from the POS breeder! :mad:

Stay off site like eBay, Hooble, Craigslist or you are just looking for heartbreak. :(

OMG...this is a breeder posting on craigslist.....yuck! No reputable breeder would advertise their pups like that. Stay clear of whoever this is.

I have to say, I sometimes look at the animals available from the ASPCA, but I am in Japan, so I can't get any of them. I do not look at the ones available here (in part because I don't read Japanese, and because one is enough for now).

I totally agree. Good detective work with the phone # search :thumbup: I just did it as well. There are a lot of so called "reputable, very praised" breeders on here that list on hoobly, kijjiji, etc.... sad. I think a lot of them love an uneducated buyer which is a sad state of affairs but they'll STILL get their money :thumbdown

With that number I came across a link to picture of a stud that looks very familiar... is it just me? Wonder what's up with that?
