When I called animal control they told me the weather there was 64 degrees and the dog would be fine outside. She really was no help at all.

Yes this was on craigs list. That is where i seen the add originally, if you look on craigs list the add may still be there.

Male lap dog neeeds a home due to relocating. He has lived both inside and out of the house. Quite loyal and protective. Age unknown and I doubt that he is a purebreed.

I copied and pasted that there is also a very blurry picture of him but I do not know how link I am sorry but if you go to craigs list ohio cambridge I think it is the add is still there

so now I am wondering if it is safe for me to go get this poor baby, yall have scared me. I do not want him to be left outside on a chain but I sure do not want to end up in trouble.

That does not look like a yorkie to me. I would not go there unless the police went with me.

I agree there is no way I would say that dog is yorkie or part yorkie.

I've seen a Yorkie mix that looked like this...he was 1/2 Miniature Schnauzer & 1/2 Yorkie...poor baby!

I agree with ladyjane...do not go there alone. I would call first and talk to the person who's placed the ad...and go from there.

I hope somebody can go get this lil' one...:(

Maybe suggest to her that he might not have water and/or shelter. In most states they must provide those. That is awful that they responded like that. I would be a thorn in their side....keep calling.

I am going to call them again in the morning I will just keep harrassing them until someone goes out there and checks on this poor little guy and I do not care if he is a Yorkie or not. He is a little baby out there tied to a garage on a chain for Petes sake.

Keep a record of who u talked to. Call the TV station in that area or your radio station and tell them no in goverment jobs want to help this poor baby.

Oh, I did not mean that you should not because he is not a yorkie. I don't care what breed of pup he is. I was merely commenting is all. And, yes he could be a yorkie mix as Joann said.
I am glad you are going to persist...there is no way any pup should be tied up outside.
My concern for you or anyone going there is IF this is a true story...you never know what someone might be up to....trying to tug at peoples' heartstrings...and then the people go there and get jumped and robbed or even killed.

I'm way to far away to help, but please keep us posted, I do also agree that I would keep calling animal control and if someone is going to try and take this pup home they should have a few big men with them. Don't go alone.

Just seeing this today. That poor pup. I would also call the non-emergency line of the police. Tell them you are worried about inhumane treatment and possible scam.

Our "animal control" in our area has not always been very helpful to ppl (heard by word of mouth). Rescues in our area have been more helpful to ppl.

Animal control picks and chooses what they want to do in most places. I haven't had much luck with them in the past. I think I would try to see if a police office would go with you to pick the pup up. Tell them you are worried it is a scam. Wouldn't hurt to try.

I have lived in several states during my lifetime and it is against the law in all of them for an owner not to provide shelter for a dog that is tied outside. Of course it is also a law that they must be provided food and water. If any one of those things are not being provided the police or dog warden must warn the owner or take the dog. I know no one has been there to see what conditions this dog is living under so maybe someone could find out. Perhaps the OP could have friends and family continue to call the animal control and or police so that they will send someone to investigate. From what I have seen on craigslist and newspapers there are a lot of pets being dumped. Few are finding homes and the shelters are full. It used to be that every town took care of the strays but it seems that no one wants to spend the money to contain the problem anymore. Whats worse is the majority of these animals are not even strays, they are owned by people who don't want to take care of them!:(

I drove all the way there, 2 and a half hours. No one was there, no dog to be seen and when I e-mailed the man to find out what had happened to the dog I got no response. I am so worried about this. Maybe it was a scam. I just do not know what to think. It has been a long day.

I am so sorry.I really hope someone did pick up the dog if there was a dog. I am so sorry that you made the trip for nothing ! I have been following the thread since you first posted. Bless you for trying to find out if there was a dog there. I would think someone got it or it was truly a scam. You might want to report it to the police just in case it is a scam. I don't think it would hurt for them to have it on record just in case. There are some real crazies in our world. There is no telling what he was up to. :(
