Ok, who coined the term 'the zoomies?' LOL! I can't remember but one of you guys told me you coined the term 'the zoomies' when your Yorkie, out of the blue, just starts on a running rampage as fast as he/she can go. Katie Scarlett had a major case of the zoomies after her nap a bit ago. She ran from one end of the house to the other, top speed, about 10 times!!! It was hilarious! She is so funny when she runs! She tucks those little ears straight back like she's trying to cut down on wind resistance and off she goes. On her last lap, she stopped dead in front of me, looked up with her tongue out, and barked one time. I said...'Are you done?' LOL! She just hopped back up on the couch, snuggled up next to me, and she is back in dream land. I can't wait until her puppy shots are done and we can take long walks and play outdoors! But anyways, wanted to say whoever calls it the 'zoomies'....you are 100% right! There is no better way to explain her wacky antics today! She has me rollin'! :D |
I don't think that the term originated here, because I've heard owners of other breeds of dogs refer to their dog having "the zoomies." |
Hummm, I won't claim the fame for coining the word, but I have been using the term "zoomies" for as long as I can remember. For me the word is a verb which describes the activity level after a bath. Not only do they zoom from room to room, they occasionally stop to rub against a jean's leg that happens to be in their path. |
Ziva is teaching Abby to do the zoomie after bath thing! I throw down a heavy towel so she can dry herself (Guess I don't do it right!) She won't let Abby go until she rolls around enough! |
I termed it "Nascar"!! Riley usually does Nascar after a bath or an ear cleaning!! LOL!!!!!!! |
I hadn't heard the term before; I like it. When Kiko does it, we say she is doing the "crazy run." |
We have used that term for years about the greyhounds. |
I love the zoomies! They sometimes just come out of nowhere, and it's so dang funny. Also, all 3 of mine get zoomy after their baths. I love it. |
We have zoomies after bath time and around 9 pm here every evening. They run the track from the living room, through the kitchen and dining room over and over again. My favorite part is when Scarlett gets going so fast that she can't quite maneuver the turns and her back end kind of "slides" out in front of her while she's changing directions. |
Harley gets the "post poop zoomies" every time he has a poo he gets the zoomies. He also zooms whenever we release him from his room to join us throughout the apartment. I love the term, it's the best way to describe him. |
The fun thing about the zoomies is that they will do it their entire lives.:D |

I don't know...but isn't it a perfect description? ZoE has a mad case of the zoomies RIGHT NOW! She's racing around the coffee table in the living room then she's off into the dining room, running through the table & chair legs...(scares the heck outta me that she's gonna run into one...but she hasn't ever yet!) then loops back to the living room..then off again to the dinning room. I understand the zoomies after feeling all fresh and frisky from a bath...but these ones that just come out of no where...what's that all about??? |
Almost every morning Mina barks at her best buddie (red poodle Mr Skittles) then they both take off. Zoom! from bedroom, through foyer, den, kitchen, dining room and back. They make several laps. We dont move because we are all afraid that one of then will rund full tilt into someone or something. |
I don't know who coined the term, but I love it when mine get the zoomies. Always makes me smile and laugh! I wish they'd do it more often! |
