I think your sister has some issues. Unfortunately there are a lot of people who look at it that same way. It is just a dog. I hate when someone says that to me and I set them straight right away. As far as a shock collar, I think that is inhumane and no one should use them no matter what size dog. |
I've only known one dog have a shock collar. It was a rescue mastiff cross and was lethal with cats, chicken, small dogs etc.(literally) the owners only used it for a week and the dog, after a lot more work is now a calm lovely dog that the cats sleep with. I think the dog would have had to be put down if the collar had not been used, but it was used sparingly, during training sessions and very carefully. I would never dream of using it on a small dog. In some parts of the UK they are illegal due to people using them for every little problem for an easy fix, appalling :( |
A shock collar is disgusting, except for maybe Michael Vick.:D I hate the thought of crating my 4 so they are very spoiled. I guess you could use it on your sister but then you would probably get arrested. |

Seems like most of us agree that shock collars are absolutely horrible! You are right. These babies are more than just dogs to us. They are a part of our family. :) I hope your sister can rehome her dogs to someone who will at least love and interact with them. Good luck with your sister. |
I put my brother's dog's shock collar around his neck once and made a loud noise... Needless to say the shock collar is gone. |
The idea behind an "invisible fence" or "pet safety perimeter collar" well... HAha right? This video is funny right? Imagine if it drops her what does it do to a less than 10 pound dog? I feel bad for the Puggle (?looks just like my neighbor's Puggles) it looks at the people and the camera like help that thing hurts me... I have to also say I just love PrankvsPrank totally subscribe for ideas |
I would never do it, I think it is cruel |
If a person is not going to take the time to properly train their dog they should not have one. To even think of putting a shock collar on a small dog is disgusting. Shock collars are for people too lazy or too ignorant to learn how to train a dog. |
for a small breed, no. For a Huge breed, it depends. |
My sister's friend is a manager at a PETCO. Recently we visited his job. He was setting up a display for shock collars and told my daughter to put her hand in the collar. He had it on low and she definitely felt it, she didn't want to try the high setting. That being said if the lowest setting disturbs/hurts a human can you imagine what it would do to our little ones. Bubbles can get a bit yappy at times, especially when we let the bird out of his cage to fly around, as much noise as she makes I would never put one on her. Your sister should put the shock collar on her own neck and see how she likes it. |
No way!! Yorkies and Shih tuz do not have the type of temperment that would need a shock collar. I really don't think labs do either... it would only be as a very last resort in a aggressive dog. I just don't understand some people !! But glad we, here on yt, think alike:D |
