Rosie has started her Journey to the UK! Please keep her in your thoughts as she makes her way here. She will have been traveling for just over 24 hours door to door. I just pray she isn't too scared and they are taking good care of her. My friend called me just after she dropped her off at Continental and told me this little story, I thought was so cute. When she took her in and the man came to get her there was a fork lift they were moving some of the crates with. My friend said to the man as he took her "You are NOT putting this baby on that thing" My friend does have a way with people. LOL So he said of course not and instead put her on the front seat of the golf cart and took her that way! Thanks all in advance for your thoughts for her safe trip and I will update and hopefully post pics after she is home! :) |
Looking forward to hearing what you think of Continental's service. I've only used British Airways World Cargo, and had a positive experience into both Manchester & Heathrow. I prefer when flying with my pet to fly Air France to France & then take the ferry across, but sometimes time doesn't allow such a long trip. Wishing Rosie a safe trip and smooth traveling experience. |
will be in my thoughts! where is rosie off to!? |
Thanks for your thoughts and prayers for a safe journey! Kazzy, I so wish it had been an option. It is killing me having her fly cargo but we had no other choice. Maci, We were stationed in England from Georgia with little notice and had no time to get everything done that needed to be done for her to come with without being quarantined so she had to stay behind with a friend until everything was finished and her wait period was up. We left in Feb and she is just coming home. She's had to be flown cargo as there is strictly no pets in cabin into England. I am so worried about her and just can't wait for this to be over for her and get her settled. The first leg of her flight is done and she is on a layover in Newark at the moment and will be taking off again in an hour. There is no way I am going to get any sleep tonight. Thanks again for keeping her in your thoughts and prayers everyone |
My mastiff puppy traveled for 12 hours w/ Continental. Nothing but awesome service all around. I would be so anxious to see my baby! She will be in my thoughts. :) |
Oh Kazzy, I had heard that the pets were last on the flight and first off to minimize their stress and time in cargo while the plane sits and was pleased when I spoke to someone who flew with her pets last year on Continental and she said that she knew the pets were first off because she sat in her seat before they were allowed off the plane and watched them taking the crates out. She said they were wonderful and took very good care of them and that her only complaint was in the customs part of it where the animals took about 4 hours to clear and they would not allow her to even see them until it was finished. They were let out to run in the fenced yard behind the office and were fed and watered. But the time clearing was her only complaint. |
Thank you Kaos! It makes me feel better to hear good things while I worry! :) |

A thing few seem to know about flying into the UK. But every pet/show dog, etc., flies into the country that way, so it's a well established routine there. I've never experienced a 4 hour delay clearing customs. Once I was off the plane, gathered my luggage and made it the animal reception centre, my dog was ready to go. On the rare occasion I only had carry-on luggage and scooted over there quickly, I've waited a half hour at most. As long as all the paperwork is correct and the microchip scans, it's a relatively quick process. Of course, the time of day & number of animals they have coming in at that time may make a difference. I prefered the overnight flight where I got in around 6:30am your time, and that was always smooth sailing :) |
Can not wait to here she has landed and is safe in your arms. Prayers being sent all goes well |
Hmmm, I wonder if it is a time of day thing. Rosie lands at 9:25am and I was told not even to show up until 12:30 because it would take at the very minimum 3 hours and to call ahead of time to make sure she was there. That didn't sit well with me and I guess it does happen as my husbands co worker took a 3 hour taxi ride there to get his dog when he was supposed to show up and the dog was not there. For some reason he was on a later flight. I am just staying positive and thinking I know everything will go just fine and as planned. For the most part I have hear mostly good things. |
Poor Baby! Praying for safe travels for your baby! Just think how happy both of you will be soon! |
Praying Rosie has a safe and uneventful trip. |
Thank you, the thoughts and prayers are so important to me. I know I am even more nervous and upset over the whole thing in part because I am the worlds worst flyer which makes me heart sick for Rosie going through this. I truly would rather swim across the ocean than get on a plane! LOL |
