Dog Food I have recently gotten lazy with a german shepherd and 2 yorkies - I was feeding all of them the same Pedigree. My shepherd has passed away and I need to get my yorkies back on a good food. The pedigree has too much fat etc. but since I had it left from the shepherd I feed it to them. Any suggestions on what to feed one 6 year old yorkie 18 pounds (he gained weight when he was neutered) and one 2 year old yorkie 6.8 pounds. |
There's some posts about food in the Health and Diet forum. I'm feeding Diamond Naturals right now.. just switched to it, but I'm still looking at other options. There's so many different foods available. I do know that any foods with corn or corn meal are not really good for any dog. I have also heard that too much protien is dangerous for Yorkies. I just made a new post in health and diet forum asking some questions about this. :) |
I feed Peanut Acana- He gets switched from the Ranch land to Pacifica. He has been on the food for about a year, and he is doing great! Nice shiny coat, normal poops.. I also give him a tablespoon of Wellness wet food or Natural Balance wet food in the morning. |
I found this food chart... Dog Food Comparison Chart - Dog Food Ratings of Premium Dog Food and Supermarket It helps to see the foods in order like that. it does have the Diamond brand, but not the Diamond Naturals, so I'm still not sure about it and that's what I'm using. |
Diamond makes Kirkland (sold by Costco) and it is very similar to Diamond Naturals. It is a good value food. |
I'm not sure anymore.. I'm thinking I may start feedign Blue Buffalo. I've been reading on this site... very informative on how to read dog food labels/ ingredients.. Dog Food Ingredients - BEWARE! Some of the stuff this lady has written makes it pretty scary to think some of that stuff is even allowed to be put in dog food.. wow! |
