| Prissikitty | 12-12-2005 08:59 AM | HI, I am new to this MB, but I wanted to let you know that my husband and I adopted one of these sweet babies. We had been looking for a Yorkie or some other small dog for awhile. We were conflicted over getting a baby or an older dog. We heard about the confiscation of these dogs in our community and felt that we could help with at least one. We went and looked at a few and of course we wanted them all. We did decide on a little girl that seemed to be young and in good health. We have no idea of her real age. I guess either the lady did not keep good records or the records were not taken. She acts like a puppy most of the time, or at least a very young dog.
We decided to name her Lucy and she is already coming to her name. When we first brought her home it was so sad. She was terrified of my husband and would "crab walk " away from him most of the time. But she has warmed up to him now and wants his total attention when he is home. He is the treat daddy. She tries very hard to get my big old German Shepherd to play with her. He just looks at her as if she is crazy. She protects me from him as well, which is pretty funny. He has always loved puppies or any other small animals, so I know she will win him over. The cats are another issue. She is mostly indifferent to them, but would love to get them to run. They are bigger then she is, but she has not figured that out.
It has been great to see her blossom into a confident (most of the time) little gal. She has made us laugh more then once. I know she had a rough time at the place she came from and I agree that the woman who had her should be given a much harsher penalty for what was done. But Lucy is in a better place now, and we love her dearly. Her coat is growing quickly and she is not so skinnyany more. But the best part is that she seems so happy now. |
