Afterthought: did you refer them to Yorkie Talk.com as well? |
Mia, your advice was spot on. LJ"s too on "time", in this "instant fix" kind of attitude world we live in, we forget that some things like a great masterpiece just gotta take time. I remember when we brought a female 7mth old pup into the house, Magic our male (who was in his crate for the introduction), growled at her!. He was not happy at all. But next day, on our joint walk, he decided that "sniff, sniff", she was a female, albeit a pesky puppy still. She did her submissive crouch and actually rolled over, and he was fine after he bowled her over a few times when she got too playfull for his adult malehood. lol Walks are great bounding times, as going for rides together in the car, being crated in the same room, being groomed in the same room. When I put one dog up on the grooming table, unless I shut the door, I have two other dogs in the room, and even the cat at times.... I think 30 days is a reasonable timeframe to see how the pups do together. |
I agree with the time and patience. The new parents need to be sure that they aren't "feeding" the situation by stressing out. Unless there is aggression involved (by either JoJo or Gizmo) then it should be life as usual. Perhaps an evening session of cuddling both furbabies with treats would help. |
Great advice about not stressing out! We bought Abby home last week and I realized how much Ziva was watching me.I sat down in front of them and just Breathed- big deep breathes, I hadn't realized how nervous I was. We also gave both dogs baths-( Ziva first) my daughter thought it would help if the puppy smelled "like us":) |
you are correct in your approach, even in life we don't all just jump into new situations and are 100% comfortable. Good luck and lots of great places for advice on here |
