Microchipping Took Sadie and Scooter and got them microchipped yesterday. Thor and Little bit were done when they got fixed. Sadie had some bleeding but it stopped. They all are fine and the process did not seem to bother them at all. I was wondering how many other YT members have their pets microchipped and how much did it cost you? Did your fur babies have any reaction to the chip ? I went to a low cost spay and neuter clinic and it only cost me 20 dollars per dog. None of my fur babies had a problem with the chip or the the process of putting it in. I am so happy I had this done. |
I had it done at the vets during spay/neuter and it was $35 which is low but you got a much better deal. I got my cats spayed at a spay/neuter clinic and wish I had got them chipped but I didnt because I was getting 5 cats spayed and shots so I was topped out. Those spay/neuter clinics are a great way to save money I want to take my yorkies there for shots but my Husband wont let me so I just take the cats. Our spay neuter clinic will even do wellness checks so the only reason you need to go to a regular vet is for dentals and if there is a health problem |
I live in the UK. I got Shesha done when she got her wee op. She had no reaction to it being done. |
I had it one to my older yorkie when he was about 6 months, he had no reaction but it did move down to his shoulder area with time, we plan on getting the little one done when she is older as well, I think we paid around 40.00 for Kiwi's. Worth the money for a little piece of mind! |
I had Riley microchipped when he was neutered. They charged $65.00... here in DC. |
Both of my cats were microchipped at the shelter we adopted them from and it didn't seem to bother them too much. The price of the microchip was included in their adoption fee ($75 for both of them! :)). With the dogs, I had them microchipped while they were under for their spay and neuter. I believe it was around $35? They never knew they were microchipped, and it gives me the piece of mind knowing they are. |

My boys were microchipped by their breeder when they were pups. Glad to hear all went well with your little ones. |
Kiko was microchipped when she was at the vet for vaccines and wellness check at about 13-14 weeks. It cost about $20 (we go to a military vet clinic). She had a little, tiny scab that healed quickly. Didn't seem to bother her any more than the shots. |
My son does the microchip in all my dogs, it cost me about $12.00 per dog, no reaction, all my litters of pups go home already microchiped, and I am the second contact in case of any emergency. I am glad you have your pup done, is a peace of mind in case your baby gets lost too... |
Of the 3 I have now. Lizzie was chipped when we stationed at Ft. Lee (Military Base) at that time it cost me nothing. Allie and Willow are Rescues and they were chipped by the Rescue group. All my others were chipped as well. |

All of my dogs are michrochipped. I do it myself. The cost is the price of the chip which is $10 -$15 depending on where i order them or if they're on sale at the time. I started michrochipping probably about 12-13 years ago. I used to have/breed Miniature Dachshunds (nice one's for show and companion) and I michrochipped all my dogs and puppies.. even my companion puppies that were placed on spay/neuter contracts. this way the vet doing the spay/neuter could scan the chip and put the chip number on the proof of spay/neuter. Plus the new puppy owner didn't have to pay to have it done. The michrochips are great in my opinion. I think all dogs should have them. I purchased the Home Again system back then. So my scanner will only read Home Again chips. It will tell me if there is an Avid chip in the dog but won't give me the actual AVID number. They didn't have the dual readers back when I purchased mine. I haven't put Paisley's chip in yet. I just haven't done it.. no reason, just not got to it yet. As for skin reaction or infection.... I have michrochipped several dogs and pups and I have never had a reaction or an infection from inserting a chip. It's pretty easy to do and doesn't seem to hurt them after the stick of the needle. The needle is bigger than a needle you would use for a vaccine so they do feel the stick for sure. I usually rub the skin a bit and then clean with rubbing alcohol and then insert the chip and then rub the skin a little more. Paisley will be getting her's put in soon.:aimeeyork |
Before Reese was stolen I had him neutered for $30 and microchipped for free. It was a hurricane preparation thing they did after we were hit by a major hurricane the previous year. |
Allie and Noah were chipped by the breeder. Westley hadn't been chipped yet. The breeder I got him from doesn't chip. I wish she did, but oh well. He will be getting chipped at his next Appt next week. |
I had Diva microchipped for $30. She's up-to-date on HomeAgain. I've noticed a lot of small pups missing in my sub. You can never be too careful. |
Small dog theft is on the rise. Please microchip your fur babies if you have not done it already. Mine also have id tags. Seems some people are making quite a living off of stealing small dogs and then selling them on craigs list. |
Both Cody and Cailee are microchipped. Our County Animal Services offers microchipping for $15 and they offer a discount on license tags if you dog is microchipped -- $14 for tags instead of $40 if not microchipped. |
Maci came microchipped, her previous owners did it at the same time as her spay. No problems at all! And it's a relief to have it done because if she ever gets lost I will be able to reunite with her! [it's useless if they get stolen, because what are the chances that person will ever take the dog to the vet let alone to a shelter] |

I got my Kassidy microchipped yesterday during her spay surgery, it cost $10 to microchip her and I think I will have to register it online, but would have to pay $19.95. I dont know if I have to register it or not, the chip is AVID. Has anyone else registered with Avid? I think its called PetTrac |
you can also register AVID with Petlink.net,I have all my dogs registered there, is about $17.00 for the life of your pet. Carmen here's the link.. Petlink |
Levi I had done when he was nuetered, he has an Avid chip. Lily I had done when she was spayed she is with Home Again. I do pay a 16.99 yearly fee to Home again, I guess to keep Lily active in the system? |
Which is the best place to register your chip? Avid does it for $17 for life PetLink - $17 for life Home Again - $17 yearly I was just curious, because when I searched google for microchip registeration, there were quite a bit of company that does it and it makes it harder for me. I just figured since she has an Avid chip, I might as well register it with Avid. Thoughts? |

All four of mine are chipped, i am shocked to see how cheap it is for some of you to get your dogs chipped. I am in IDaho, and its $50 but thankfully i get a 40 % discount but its still around 30 dollars. But its well worth it! |

i guess i'm speaking from personal experience. we had two maltese cross brothers that were stolden... they were chipped and tattooed and we never saw them again. :/ But for sure I hope that vets are checking ALL their new clients for chips and that the info matches the clients info they gave. |
