Fish oil question Is fish oil suppose to be good for dry skin? If so where do you get it and how much do you give a 4# yorkie. |
i bought mine at walgreens, and walmart----maddie is 11 pounds and i gave her half a pill i poked a hole in it and squeezed it on her food. she loved it. but in maddies case i never seen a difference--i think more of it was weather related. but fish oil an coconut oil are good for dogs, we tried both |
ohhh and the coconut oil i bought at the health store ;) |
Yes. I just to Ry to a new vet for his annual exam and vaccinations. Riley has a teeny bit of dry skin due to environmental allergies and I told him I rubbed coconut oil on his belly. He told me to get some Fish Oil. I purchased it in a bottle that comes with a dropper....at Vitacost.com It is Nordic Naturals Omega-3 Pet. - Just started using it 3-days ago. They sell the Nordic Naturals for humans at GNC.... and I think they sell the pills for pets... not sure about the liquid, but I have to stop by there next week so I am going to check it out. The coconut oil I got at GNC. I use the Nutiva Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil. Nordic Naturals Omega-3 PET? -- 2 fl oz - Vitacost |
For my little guy I bought cod liver oil from his vet. I see a little bit of a difference.... he takes it because he was biting his paws regularly. |
When we first bought Max he had dry skin and a few of my fellow yorkie owners told me to sprinkle a little olive oil on his food (every meal)... Worked Miracles!!! plus he liked it better with the olive oil. |

How much do you spinkle on his food? Just a few drops? Peanut has dry skin on the back near his tail??? Poor fellow has so many skin issues. He is allergic to ALOT of stuff. |
about a half of a teaspoon will do... My bichon has the same problem... She is allergic to just about every dogfood out there and has dry skin but the olive oil really helps. |
