Cave or Open? What do your puppies prefer? A closed home, like a plastic carrier, or an open one like a wire crate? |

I just feel like a plastic one would feel more secure, unless you covered the metal one like you did. |
Zhoie has had this since we brought her home. I ordered it before she came to us the the cover that ties on, so you can take it off if you want. When I wash it, she runs to the dryer and does her yorkie circles as I tie it back on...so I know she loves it. I have a plastic carrier type for her, just in case I need a rush to the vet or something and don't want her handled...but when I put her in it...her eyeballs are hugh, it's like she gets freaked out or something. LOL |

Zhoie sleeps with us, but if I leave the house, I just don't see her liking not being in her house. We had an x-pen up when she was a pup and I had to run out or something, but she would still gravitate to her house. Working from home, I'm never gone very long and even if I leave the door open, she is still there when I come back. I actually have to say "ok" when I come home and then she'll come running. Funny how they develop their own little quirks ;) We did get the folding travel x-pen and that worked out great for vacation. |
My Yorkies all have wire crates. I think they are more versatile. They can be belted in the car. Ued covered or open. I like the removable tray it is easy to clean if accidents happen. When uncoverd the puppy can see what is going on and you can observe the puppy. The Vet uses a wire crate as a hospital room. When used as a sick room, it can be easily wiped down with disinfectant and the patient can be seen. Covered it provides a safe private little cave. I also have a plastic carry crate for vet visits. |
We have purchased a wire one for our soon to be Yorkie. I want to have a cover made or make one myself. I'm not sure how to make a cover, but I'd love to do it on my own so I could make it match or theme. Zhoie's space is adorable! |

I've been playing with my camera, trying to learn all it's functions. This was the color accent mode, and it only shows the color brown. His house is actually blue with brown paw prints all over. |

Levi hates all crates equally. :) He does have a plastic crate with the door removed in my bedroom, but he never uses it. Our bigger dog has severe separation anxiety and does best in the plastic type crates. Even covering the wire one with blankets made him anxious and he chewed on the bars constantly. But he loves his plastic crate. Go figure. |
Ahi has a crate that I put her in if I need her out of harms way. She's fine in it. She'll whine for 2 seconds and realize she's going to stay in there and walks to the back and go to sleep. Otherwise she falls asleep on my bed but gets irritated when I move around too much :rolleyes: and goes on her cloud 9 which is leveled with my futon bed. If she gets hot on her cloud 9 she then precedes to crawl back into bed with me. LOL All these pics of your babies humble abodes are just too cute. :D |
2 Attachment(s) I guess my ZoE has a cave... It's an enclosed bed made out of an old end table. She loves to go in there to get away from things. That's her safe spot our home...the rule is when she is in there, she can't be bothered by anyone. |

I skipped a few washes before the big switch, so the blanket would hold a familiar scent and the house still kinda felt like home for him and it had at least a familiar smell. |
