These past two days... not good for the dogs. I've mentioned before that Me and my Mom own a little store in town. Well, yesterday I was there doing some cleaning and painting, I had Paisley with me of course. We lease the store building from a lady who owns a dachhsund. A fairly large dachhsund, probably 24 pounds or better. Snoopy is his name and he's always been friendly. Yesterday I was standing outside Bertie's(land lord lady) door and we were talking. I had paisley on a leash with me and all of a sudden Snoopy comes running out of the house and attacks Paisley, I immediately grabbed her up and Bertie got ahold of Snoopy. Paisley was really shook up but there were no marks on her that I could see but since he got her around the head/neck area I ran her to town to the vet's to get checked out. She was fine other than being shook up over it. Talk about scary!!!! Then this morning when I woke up, Lil Bit ,my Basset Hound had big bumps all over his face, nose , ears and head... his nose is REALLY bad and the bumps there are raw and bleeding. So I called the vet's office and rushed him in. They said he's had a really bad allergic reaction to something. We don't know what though. They said he could have got bitten or stung by something or came into contact with something, they just don't know. His poor face & nose is just raw. The vet gave him a shot and sent home 10 days of a perscription antihistimine and an antibiotic. He is eating and playing and acting fine other than he's itchy. He looks awful.. poor boy.:( Then this morning when I was getting Lil Bit in the truck to go to the vet, My phone rang and it was my sister. She was crying and I was like "what's wrong?" She is a school teacher so she was at the school and she said Collin (my nephew, her son) had just called her and said that Libby, their Jack Russel Terrier had dug a hole under the fence and got out of the yard and had ran in the road and had been hit by a car and killed.:( She was so upset that she ended up coming home because she couldn't teach a class while being that upset. Then she went and got my neices after scchool and had to tell them what happened, they are 7 and 10 years old... it was really sad, they were so so upset. She called me to come down and talk to them. So I did. ..but it's just so sad, they were bawling. Especially Maggie (10 year old) She's just not dealing with it very well at all. This was their very first dog. Libby was loved so much by them. She had dug under the fence one other time last year and they fixed the place but she found another place and dug out.:( So that's been our last couple days:( I am happy that Paisley is fine. That was so scary. But I'm sad for my Sister's family. ...and Lil bit could use a prayer if you want to say one for him. |
WOW! like WOW! I am so sorry it really has been a tuff couple of days for your family. I will keep you all in my prayers. Wish I could give you a hug. |
Patching a Hole My heavens, when it rains it pours ! I'm so sorry for the loss, those kids really must be sad. I know this may not be the time for a suggestion, but... Often times when I find a hole or nearly in a place like that, I have a small bag of Concrete. I just get an old Coffee Can, put a couple scoops of Concrete in it, then a little water, stir, and just pour/spread it in the low place to sort of fill the hole. Then push some dirt on top of it. You don't even need to let it dry, it'll do that by it's self. And then the Grass just grows over it and covers it up, and you have a "foundation" they can't dig through then. |
Thank you - My Lii friend. SW Houston - that is a good suggestion. Thank you. |
I'm so sorry I will be praying for yall. |
I'm very sorry for your sister's family's loss of Libby in such a tragic way. :( Poor Paisley and Lil Bit. I hope he recovers quickly and that Paisley will feel better. |

I'm so sorry and hoping things get better for you and your family |
Thank you everyone. seriousy...Thank You. Paisley has been fine since the Snoopy attack. He must not got her very bad. I think I swooped her up so fast! ...but she's acted fine ever since except for the 20 - 30 minutes of shaking from being scared. Lil Bit looks better this moring. I just gave him his morning dose of meds. The bumps on the top of his head and on his ears are gone and he doesn't seem to be scratching. His nose still have the bumps all over it but they look like they're drying up a bit. Yesterday they were raw and oozy with blood and clear stuff... gross, I know. (sorry). This morning, not as bad but still looks awful. I just pray he's all better quickly... poor boy. I didn't talk to my sister this morning. I'm sure Maggie is still really upset. I know they all are but it seems like Maggie and my sister are taking it the hardest. I wish there was something I could do to help ease the pain for them:( |
