Naming....is it too late? Well, my baby's name is Bella. My husband got her for me as a late anniversary present, so he named her. I am not too fond of the name though. I wanted her to have a "unique" name. If I ever had a little girl, I had several cute, but uncommon names picked out. She is only 11 weeks. is it too late to change her name? Should I not change it? |
It's not too late to change her name - she's still just a baby. Rescue groups often change dogs names when they take them in. Shelters name strays, too. She'll be fine :D |
It is not to late as she is still a baby. If the name is not what you want I would change it now. |
Not too late. My girl is 15 weeks (today) and she doesnt even know her name. I should change it to "food" because that is the only word she knows and responds to most of the time!! |
Thanks guys! I wasn't sure if maybe she wouldn't recognize a new name. I mean the name Bella is adorable, but I always wanted a girl. I have a son, wanted a daughter too. So I consider her my daughter. So its only right to give her a name I would choose for a daughter right? :) |
No way! People change rescue dogs names who are sometimes 8-10 years old, etc. She will be fine. :) |
I think she'd be happy with whatever name you decide to call her! I ahve named pets before and then later they develop a nick name and we'll use that as much or more than the actual name and they still know it's them we're talking to! :) |
Some trainers also recommend you have a different call name for dogs too, so it's common to change their name at any stage. Just start with an interesting treat and say her new name, when she turns and looks at you give the treat... it'll teach her that when you say that new name it means her... I almost changed Harley's name because we over used Harley, and in terms of training wise, I needed him to respond. Now we use nicknames if we're playing and only save his real name for when we want him to pay attention to us. Let us know what you pick for her new name! |
Never too late. Ahi is mostly called baby, princess, pumpkin, honey, bubbs(bubbles). She responds to them all. When we call her Ahi she responds right away cause she knows we mean business. lol :) |
When Lola was a 10 weeks old I couldnt decide whether Taylor or not fit her, then mom changed it to Coco and her hair started to show blue roots, so we wanted to change it again. Then mom picked her up and made her "dance" to "Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl" That ended up being the name that stuck. Name changes are easy as long as you make sure she knows you're talking to her. |
I agree! I'd change it to what you like best! :) |
so now the hard part!!! any suggestions on names? I am a Lord of the Rings dork :p and kinda like the name Arwen. Not sure how to make a nickname out of it. But the name itself means "noble maiden" I also like: Caeli (kaleigh), Annabelle (anna for short), Gabbi, Enya, and idk what else. like i said, I like unique names. Any suggestions???? |

They're all cute! I'm kind of partial to Caeli (Kaleigh).. that's my youngest daughter's middle name and my Granddaughter's first name... only spelled like Kaley. I also think Anna is a sweet name:) |
