Front lead harness Can anyone recommend a good front lead harness? I have tried a couple different types, but Maisie seems to be pulling more than usual and someone recommended trying a front lead. We had tried a head collar but she absolutely hates it and now screeches if I try. I searched some of the old threads and most of them clip on top. Maisie is a 7 lb yorkie. Thanks for any assistance you can provide! Jenn |
I used the Easy Walk harness when teaching Jackson how to walk on a leash and it worked amazing. He learned how to walk properly in a few days! |
You could always try in addition to a harness to shape the "heel" or "stay close" command I don't require a full on "heel" from Harley, but what I do when we walk, is if he pulls I stop until he turns and walks towards me then I mark and reward (click or say good or whatever your marker is) and then walk on. Then if he is walking pleasantly beside me I've gotten pretty good and bending over and administering treats while continuing to move. It has now become a fun game, if he pulls I stop, he runs and tags me with his paw (which is adorable), then usually goes back into place beside me. On another note, I just use a simple step-in harness, but I've also heard good things about the easy-walk. |
I bought 2 from Chattiesmom..she did a GREAT job! and they work great! |

I hope this is allowed? I have two harnesses from ChattiesMom that I honestly just don't use. They are great quality but they just sit in our closet so I'd prefer they go to someone who is going to use them... plus I know she's been sick (get better!) so this is an opportunity for someone who wants one to have it. These are both her Walk-Nice harnesses so they have a d-ring on the front and the back, you can use either option. Both harnesses are in excellent shape... red one was worn maybe 5 times just regular walking, no getting dirty, etc, and the teal one was worn once. I don't have EXACT measurements on these... but Jackson's chest is about 17" (behind his front legs) and he is 16lbs. He is on one of the bigger sizes and this can be adjusted a lot down and up... I would guesstimate that it'd be fine for as low as 8-10lbs depending on the frame of the dog. No bigger than 18-20lbs. I paid $20 for each plus shipping. I will charge $15 each. Let me know if interested. I take paypal. Yep, I do have harnesses for sale. The red one is sold. I have the teal one left though.... and a black one, I think. Let me know if you are interested and her measurements behind her front legs (girth). They are made by chattiesmom -- just selling them because I don't use them. |
Yes, we use the front lead halters (lower chest) and they work beautifully on our dogs. I know they're made by Gentle Leader and I think they're called Easy Walk. The best thing is that they don't put any stress on their little necks at all. |
