Nose discoloration Hi, I have a male yorkie, 6 months old. His nose is kind of losing pigmentation in the centre, it's a brownish color.. i dont know what is causing this... his water is in a stainless steel bowl. Can you help? Thanks. |
hmmm...I've not had this happen but maybe one of the more seasoned breeders can help. |
I have read about this somewhere. I seem to remember that Yorkies who are not getting enough sunlight can have this happen. If that is the cause, just a bit more sun could help. |
Take him out in the sun more often. It is supposed to return to normal in nice weather when he's out more often on pretty, sunny days. I suppose there could be other causes, but this and plastic are what I recall. |
One of my dogs nose lightens in the winter months and returns to black in the summer time. I read that it is due to the lack of sunlight- but not harmful... |
nose Sunshine!!! When I had my kennel in Maryland I noticed in the winter the noses got lighter...so I had an electrician install long rows of lighting across the entire kennel...never had "winter noses" again...so any type light must work. |
Good info to know...thanks.. |
Hey, Pat! Cold weather makes my nose RED! hmmm, I need sunshine too.. |
noses Come on down to Florida and get a red nose the fun way!!! |
How can I say this?? It is freakin' snowing!!!!!!!!!!! There is a white film over everything!!! Aren't you sorry you aren't back here freezin' off your tush?? 7 dogs took one look and ran for cover..not getting them out in the cold and snow.. |
This is interesting! My poodle (RIP) had this...and we never knew what it was. But if it is the same thing...it wasn't harmful to her. So unless the color is really bugging you...I wouldn't worry about it. |
