Is there such a thing as a female 'belly band'?
 

Princess is on Prednisone for itchy skin which is clearing up and the Dr. warned me she could pee like crazy, among other side effects. I chose the meds because she was so miserable I didn't care about the side effects affecting me.

So she's having tons of accidents right in front of me and when I'm not looking. I've barricaded her at night so she only has access to my room a bit of hall & the bathroom where her pads are. During the day I try to keep her right by me but it doesn't matter since she'll just go anyways. I don't really discipline her just tell her no in a disappointed voice & that's it. It's not her fault, you can't discipline a child that has an accident due to medical reasons.

All this said, is there something I can put on her to help her from at least marking the carpet for "future reference" to regress when she's better? Plus she saw my mom and Princess always gets ecstatic to see her, well she jumped up on her & completely released her bladder. She's done 'drops' out of excitement but never like this. I didn't correct her at all as she clearly had no control. She's still pooping where she's supposed to so I wondered if I can help her to stop peeing everywhere without interfering with what she knows, or should I just let her do it until she's better?

If there are any products, do you have a recommendation of where I can get them?

The boys wear the belly bands and the girls wear the diaper. There are many places to purchase them. I bought chloe one from ebay and she outgrew it before she ever wore it...LOL....If she's tiny I'll give it to you...i think the biggest her girth can be is 8 inches to fit this one.

Doggie diapers.. Yes, use them. Don't let her ruin your floor (unless it's not carpet). Maxi pads inside of them work well. This is waht I do for Ellie when I can't give her my undivided attention.

Pred makes them pee a lot. This sounds terribly excessive and uncontrollable. I wouldn't be totally convinced that it is the only problem. Any reason another drug wasn't chosen that would have been easier on her pancreas?

I'll be stopping by the pet store to check for some diapers or something to help. I always thought they had to poop in them too and didn't think that would be fair since that's not a problem. :/

No reason that I know of. It was the vet's partner that we saw but we talked about how she's continuing to recover. When she said pills I even told her I didn't want to hide it in anything so I bought a can of the I/D. She just said it was the best course of action, but that some owners end up stopping the pred. because of the pee problems as well as anxiety, increased energy & just acting a little strange over all. I didn't see that as a reason to avoid it, I was worried about her opening up her skin from itching & getting infected. Honestly I never worried about a med making her pancreas worse-honestly appreciate that tid bit. She's down to one pill a day for a few then every other so hopefully it'll be better soon!:(

Sometimes there isn't a choice and sometimes it is avoidable. Obviously if it's food an elimination diet should be done. If it's envir., antihistamines and Atopica can be tried. If it's flea related, well, monthly preventative and maybe antihistamines, but you might be stuck with the pred. We do steroids as a last resort with E's pancreas.

There is a tail hole. E poops right through it (grr). It does get the diaper dirty when they go while wearing it. Peepad trained dogs probably aren't good candidates for diapers.. If has to be taken off and then they are taken potty.

Be very careful. Urine burn happens quickly. Change wet diaper pad immediately and watch the area (check it daily).

Yes- doggie diapers- if it is a short term issue, i would just grab some disposables from the petstore- if it is a longer term thing, I would order a cloth one from T-bumpkins and co.

Not sure how big your pup is but you can buy cheap preemie sized baby diapers and just cut a tail hole. It cost much less than the doggie diapers for a pack.

Well the pet stores pads had a tiny hole for her tail & they said to poop I know would make a mess. I'm going to get creative I think. I bought maxi-pads & am going to try to get something together to hold it up. She wont be making a fashion statement I'm sure, but it will have to do until I can get to Petco/smart. I'll change them a lot and prob will only put one on her when she has freedom. If she pees in a specific area I can handle that. I just hate walking around & stepping in with it "hidden" in the carpet. I'm probably going to put a little bag balm on her too to help protect her.

As for the allergies nothing was tested, just suspected. My biggest fear is it's the I/D since some itching started at the time she was sick. I don't know how to eliminate that since I can't really try a new food, I'm too scared to honestly. The vet said if she is allergic to the food we could try the sens. stomach formula's S.D. & Eukanuba make. If she's itching at all after this treatment we're going back to try to eliminate some of the causes. Hopefully it's just environ. allergies or even a flea issue which I hope we'll be avoiding 100% from here on out.

Off to give her a bath in her new biogroom to see if that calms her skin as well. She's gonna love me, LOL.:)
