Lady R | 09-09-2011 03:56 PM | Duchess Hello to everyone,
I have a yorkie with a cleft palate,She is now 2yrs old and has had two big op's,She seems to manage very well except she gets infections every few months,I didnt know she had a cleft palate until she was 4 months old,I had been attending puppy parties at the vets for 4 weeks and she wasnt putting weight on,He suggested puppy milk,My god when i gave it to her the result was awful,Milk coming down her nose ,Shaking her head and running backwards ! I was so frightened.I had to wait 12 months before they would operated,She was in I.C.U for 13 days,My vet a 6'3 Rugby player would carry her around in his pocket to the amusement of all the nurses ! He said she was so brave and such a fighter that we couldnt put her to sleep,Everyone that meets her falls in love with her,She can't bark but sort of chirps ,Now and again we get a tiny squeak ! Shes such a happy little thing,But i get terrified everytime she gets an infection,Shes my world.Has anyone got any advice ? I did go back to the breeder but she didnt want to know,I never saw Mother and pup together ? And the breeder gave me dry food to take home with her ? My vet told me to tell the breeder not to breed with that bitch again,But she wouldnt listen and got angry.I spoke to the lady that had the dog and she was very nice,He had won at crufts and been used alot with no problems ,It was the bitches first litter ? Thank you for taking the time to read this long message x |
