Do Biewers colors change like Yorkies do? We are looking at adding a Biewer to our family and I am wondering if the Biewers coloring changes like the Yorkies do. One of the puppies has a really dark black and tan coloring on the face and head and one has black and tan mixed with white. I am wondering if the face will lighten up or remain really dark?? |
2 of mine changed some but the others stayed the same..Biewers are wonderful |

They are both adorable! I don't know anything about Biewers, just wanted to say that they are a couple of cuties :) |

Thank you - we are going to see them tomorrow!! :) |
Yes they can change and some do not...easy right? LOL I have seen an all dark faced puppy turn almost white as an adult...some black backed turn blue and then some stay the same. The best way to guess (as you never know if you will get a throw back from another dog in the lines) is to look at the parents. If they are both light you are more likely to get a light adult dog....dark and hopefully they stay dark. Hit or miss with the colors, but they are ALL sweet furbabies!! Both the babies you are looking at look super sweet too! |
Well, my Dori is from champion German stock and had very distinct markings as a pup. Now, at 18 months, she has kinda "beiged" out. Show Biewers are supposed to keep the beige on their faces, but we bought Dori as a companion pet, not a potential "star." So, we keep her coat shorter and would describe it as mostly "griege" with white tummy and feet. You will never regret getting your Biewer baby from a reputable breeder. Dori is the most loving and smartest dog we have had in 40 years! |
Genetics will tell all :) Just depends. When I had Biewers my girl stayed black and my boy turned blue. Just like yorkies ;) |
Yep.. It's an amazing thing! Some go Blue, Some black.. they are yorkies after all.. but the faces seem to clear.. I don't see too many that stay very vibrant but some do. If there is white, that will stay white, if the coat turns Blue, the faces, of course, turn "mellower" if they have a black coat.. they may keep a bit "stronger" color in the face, a deeper "gold" or tan.. but whatever happens, you'll soon find that the COLOR, although it is striking, is not the most important thing.. you'll just be in LOVE with that little dickens.. and it really won't matter what's on that face!! Hope you enjoy your new pal. :aimeeyork Diana :animal-pa |
