Too early to give a bath? You my have read I just got my new furbaby Duncan yesterday..and he sort of smells. The problem is I don't want to traumatize him by giving him a bath when he just got here... should i wait a few days before bathing him to get him used to his new home? |
I bathed mine the same day I got them because they were a little stinky. I also bathed the ones that I sold from my last litter before they went to their new homes. The only thing is to have warm towels ready and make sure you blow dry them DRY. Take care around the head area so that they don't get water up the nose or anything. |
I gave Jewels a bath when she got home too. She was stinky. She was real little when I brought her home but she did fine. I had a warm towel and i blowed dry her. |
Shame on the breeder for not handing you a freshly washed, good smelling pup to take home. |
Bathing a baby moose yep moose came home and got bathed that some day. I just took her into the shower with me so she didn't think I was leaving her. Not sure if that was the best idea since now she tries to go into the shower whenever I'm in there, but at least she's a clean doggie :D lil bear on the other hand came to us spick and span, the friends we got her from really didn't want to part with her but knew we would love her, Bill washedlil bear and her sister so they would have the cute puppy smell and not rough and tumble play smell. Thank goodness he did, lil bear can not stand baths, I think if I would have had to give her one on the day we got her I would have gone insane, she is so strong for a small dog!! |
I gave Coco a bath the minute we got home because she travelled a LONG way to get to her mommy. Plus she had diarrhea, from being so nervous, so she neeeeeeded a bath. |
We gave Marty a bath on his first day home, too. He was fine with it and loved the cuddle time after the bath was over! |
I've had my dog 2 1/2 weeks, and he's had three baths. This is not a choice thing for him. I use warm water, am gentle, and get through it as quickly as I can. He doesn't like it, but is back crazy playing as soon as he is done. TIP: I learned at the hospital that you can warm blankets, towels, etc. quickly by putting them in the microwave for a little while. They do this at the hospital with blankets for the patients who complain about being "cold." Works great! Carol Jean |
bath A freshly groomed puppy is the LEAST the breeder can do for the new owner. I have had people tell me they thought all puppies smelled like poop/pee until they came to my house...I have to live with these critters, who wants to smell potty puppies all day!!??LOL |
When we got our baby we were told she would be freshly bathed but she wasn't because she still had a smelly piece of poop on her head (matted in her hair) so we had to give her a bath; and as gentle as we were, she has hated baths ever since. She goes and hides when we break out the towels and shampoo. But after she gets her bath she is so happy to be clean she runs around and rolls on the carpet.. LOL! |
