I think Bailey might have weight problems... Bailey is a relatively small yorkie. She is 6.5-7 pounds. But she just seems too big. Her sides do slope in if I look from above, but I can't feel her ribs with slight pressure. So what's your advice. (I also free feed. It's the amount she should eat in a day, but she never eats it all in a day.) |
If you think she is too heavy, take her to the vet. My Zoey is small and weighs 6.10 - just visited the vet yesterday for rabies shot. |
I'm glad you asked this question. I can't wait to see anseers because my guy is small but probably 5 pounds. Great question. |
Here is another weight loss thread: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...er-weight.html As Jodi wrote in post #5, treats need to be factored into the daily calorie/fat gram count. Do you give your pup treats in addition to her kibble? To promote weight loss, decrease the amount of the food and treats, and increase exercise. |

Thanks for the advice, and yes, she does have a treat a day. About an inch long and shaped like a bone. The ingredients are whole wheat flour, skim milk, natural peanut butter, and baking powder. |
