evening snack for vomiting I need a healthy evening snack for Zoey. She vomits if her stomach is empty and the vet said to give her a snack before bed time. I lost my Gina to IBD/pancreatitis and don't want to give Zoey anything that might start something bad. Do you think a scrambled egg is ok? Any suggestions? Thanks, Cherie |
Scrambled eggs are a good choice, yogurt, maybe a little rice and chicken.. My brothers dog has a very sensitive tummy, he give his dog a handful of frozen peas! She loves them. I found this link.. http://www.moderndogmagazine.com/art...oods-dogs/1896 |
Kibble. I give Teddy 3-4 kibble for tricks/grooming rewards before bed. He is 8 pounds and that is all it takes to keep his tummy happy until breakfast. |

My boys are larger, 8 and 9 pounds. To the OP: Egg makes Teddy vomit. I think the protein speeds his already-fast metabolism and makes him more likely to vomit bile. |
I should caution too that sweet potato and cheese are not good choices if pancreatitis is a concern. When I give those things, I am taking a risk, but I give only a dab or a tiny shred. |
I am not sure about " foods for pancreatitis" The foods I said were healthy in a small amount. Maybe you should talk to your vet to see what he thinks what is good for her.. Max- Ah ok, He sounds more sensitive than Pnut! I run out of ideas for Pnut, He isnt a very good eater. He eats maybe 1/4 of a cup of his dry food a day...He will not even touch his dry food in the morning, I have to feed him a tiny bit of wet food in the morning if I don't I will come home to him throwing up bile and not feeling well. |
Thanks to all for your input. Good suggestion and thanks for the warning re scrambled eggs. Cherie |
I agree, the foods you suggested are healthy choices. Small amounts is key. Little dogs don't require much. |
Dinky also needs a little snack at night. We usually give him a little bit of kibble mixed with some chicken. He needs only about a rounded tablespoon or so. We usually have to wake him up around 9 pm to feed him. He always looks so surprised and quite pleased about the whole thing. It worked too. The vomiting stopped. |
I just give Taycie her Kibble. She is on a RX hypoallergenic diet so she can have only that. She is doing so wonderfully on her new food I am not taking in chances.. so for us that is all she gets. She does however LOVE her food.. and she acts like she is about to eat a Filet Mignon every time I offer her a piece for a treat:) I usually give her 3 of 4 pieces before bed and she does great! |
I think scrambled eggs would be ok - ditch the yolk. Cooked egg whites are ok. |
