Multiples...need advice?? Kaos is the only yorkie I have atm, and he turns two next month. I am wanting to add another member of the family soon, and I have one dilema... BOY or GIRL  I would really appreciate if boy/boy or boy/girl yorkie homes could let me know the pro's and con's of each. |
Two males is more fighting than opposite genders. I don't own two dogs but that's how Mojo did with the dog across the street. Bailey is okay with other males if they aren't trying to be more dominant. Dominance is the most important thing and males will fight for it until one wins. |
I have two females together and yes I agree dominance is an issue. Personally, I think a male and female will be a better combination as far as getting along. My two females are manageable but you will have to understand there are "cat fights" to deal with. Or at least I think there would be with two males just like two females. I think a male and female combination you would see less of the dominance issue. |
I have a male and female, and they get along fine.....because the female is the boss! I don't believe my female would get along with another female. |
My female was a little under 2 years old when we added our now 16 week old male. At first she wanted nothing to do with him and was extremely annoyed by him for the first week. Four weeks have passed and now they are best friends, of course, she is still the boss - but they sleep cuddled up together and will relax together. I am very happy with my girl/boy combo! |
I should add kaos is not the "pack leader" type. He's a pretty submissive little guy, and gets along with mostly all dogs he meets. I love my boys personality, but I don't really know much about the girls personalities, which is why I am hesitant to get a girl. :quizzi: |

Well, I love my girls very much. But to be honest, I am thinking they may be more moody. Or maybe it is just my girls! :p Rosie will only be held when she wants to be held. And if she gets mad at you then you will know it. I always say my girls have attitude. :D But so does their mommy! |
I have 3 females and 1 male. The male came to me as an 17 year old rescue about a year and a half ago. My 3 females get along fine. 2 of them on occasion would gang up on the other but they have grown out of that and all 3 get along great. The male took an immediate dislike to one of my girls and attacks her if I don't catch him first. He has no teeth so he can't hurt her. Because I don't know his prior history I don't really think it is a male/female thing as he rarely goes after Roxie and has never gone after Pixie my alpha female. I think since your Kaos is not alpha either would work out. |

There is never a time Kaos doesn't want to be held. I couldn't even imagine that. :p |

Lol. Girls must be different!! :D |
I think it just depends on the dog. I find more issues with female/female combos than male/male combos but it all just depends. My next will 99% be another boy. |
I have a boy and a girl and could not imagine a better match. They love each other to death and have only had one scuffle ever. They are constantly playing, kissing and cuddling. Maybe I just got lucky, but boy/girl is the only combination I will ever have :) |

I think it does come down to individual dogs and personalities. Opposite genders might be best; 2 males would be my second choice. |
I was considering another one also. I have a male and would like to add another male. Neutered of course. Any one have any luck with 2 males? |
