Separate Collar for Dog Tags? Just trying to find out what to do with Taycie's many tags. By the time she has her name tag on, with her rabies and license It just seems alot! I tried putting them on her harness and she did not like that. She kept looking at me like "what is on my back?" I tried hooking them all in the front of her harness but that didn't work very well. Anyways..She would not walk and just planted her butt on the ground.. Now, who said Yorkies were stubborn????? lol And... tags are such a pain in the butt to switch over when switching out collars.. I thought I read somewhere, that someone had bought a clip that made switching tags easier? Right now I just have a seperate collar for tags and when we are out that is what we use.. but just wondering what you use and find what works for you. At home she wears one with a bell. It helps so I know where she is, as she follows me around the house she is always right under my feet. Thanks:) |
Mina's tags (rabies,name/phone number, tiny bell and microchip id). They are on a clip that transfers from one collar to another, large jewelry clip. I did check out the clips that you can purchase for tags, but thought that they were a little pricey. If we go out,her harness fits with the collar. We refer to her collar as her "necklace". She weighs approx. 5lbs. |
Does she NEED to wear all those tags? I just have an ID tag on Jackson's collar -- I keep his rabies and AKC tag on my key chain so that they are with me at all times. And there is a Rubit Tag Clip that makes it easier to switch. |
I just use one collar for Rylee, so no switching needed. So he wears both a harness and a collar. May get a clip so we can change out collars. I think that's the best option. He also has an ID tag, microchip, and should have a rabies soon. |
I keep the dogs ID tags and Rabies tag on a collar- when we are going out, they get the collar put on in addition to their harness- since I switch harnesses a lot and also use them under clothes sometimes this was the easiest way to do it. They are pretty lightweight collars and don't seem to bother them. I also have the tags on a little clip, so if I want to switch collars at any point it is easier. |
I got this for Roxy. Works great! Can switch collars anytime easily with no broken nails. To me it was worth the price. Rubit! Dog Tag Clip - Small Curve I'd rather she didn't wear tags all the time, but read too many stories of these little tikes accidently getting loose. Just want to increase my chances of getting her back home quickly. It all depends on what you are comfort level is. |

I am with you... I rather have all my i's dotted and t's crossed. I just don't want to risk anything happening to her. For the most part she is always with me, but I just worry about the off chance she isn't. I don't know.. I am a worry wart. I like the dog clip. I am going to order one. That seems like the best solution. And I like that I can take them off easily if need be:) |
I just ordered the pink one:) Horray! I knew there was something I just couldn't figure out what it was called! |

I keep a collar on Callie all the time with the rabies tag and her name tag. I change her collar maybe every two months I am a collar hoarder lol but I got this really awesome tool from one of the mail order things that opens the split rings so you can slide the tag and collar on it very easy. I always use her buddy belt when use the leash though (always feel i have to put that). Just a side note whine Callie just got her rabies shot Tuesday and the tag is terrible yuck its green and a huge bell looking thing. |
Mina wears her tags all of the time because I have spent so much of my time and money taking care of dogs in my neighborhood that have landed at my door without ID. I havent as of yet sent one to the pound, I have spent up to 3 weeks trying to locate an owner. When he finally showed up I chewed him out for no tags before I let him have his dog. |
