Bees and Wasps in my grass! I have seen a couple bees and wasps in my grass, Pnut just got stung by a bee yesterday, he stepped on it. This morning when I took him out I saw a wasps down in the grass!! I do not want him to get stung again! How can I get rid of these bees and wasps?? |
well when you live out in the country on almost 3 acres of land with surroding woods its difficult to get rid of them..lol.. unless you have a noticable nest around, you cant really get rid of every single bee a round. You can buy spray and it might help some but thats all I can think of for now, Im sure someone else will chime in with other solutions. I know how you feel though, my toy poodle got stung last week, Tucker likes to try and eat them and gets stung at least twice a year, Ive killed 2 big hives on my property and my poor kids have been stung numerous times this year.. my poor 10 year old daughter had a bumble bee fly up her pj pants while we were camping last weekend and it stung her 6 times on her knee, she had a welt the size of a softball for almost 3 days!.. |

We have lots of wasps around. Ziva got stung last year, it was so scary... We sit very quietly and watch their activity(they keep going back to the same place ) and sometimes lucky enough to see the hive they are building, it looks like a glob of mud . We spray it in the evening with wasp and hornet spray, it sprays long range. A few days later we remove the nest, they are usually along the eaves or corners of the house. Some build nests in the ground or in palm trunks. It might help if you can identify the type of bee/wasp. |
wow, i hope Pnut is ok.. I know we often complain about winter, but i much prefer it. Its nearly spring time where i live and since i saw the forst spider and wasp, i have not taken Ziggy outside to potty (luckly im outside and peepad training him). I take him out at specific times when its cooler and even then its not on the grass! We have tried everything for wasps but nothing works.. and im just not going to take that chance.. i hope you find something that works for your house.. |
Dont kill the bees have someone come and trap them they can find there nest. It is rare in some areas to ever see a bee thats how badly their population has been affected by our environment. A professional can trap them and release them in a better area |
Levi found and "underground" nest this morning. It is in an old tree stump in my front yard. I didn't think it was a nest until I took a closer look at it. Funny the bee's don't seem to mind my irrigation system. Mine have never been stung, so I wouldn't know what to expect. |
Poor Pnut! I don't like bees or wasps either! We have the wasps here too. The nice red ones. My husband usually finds the nest and buys spray to kill them. I am thinking there has to be a nest close by or they wouldn't be hanging out. Don't see many bees at all. Just usually red wasps. And when they sting you know it! :( Poor little guy. Send him hugs. |
Wasps are in the grass. They make their nests in the ground and can sting repeatedly, unlike bees, whose stingers comes out once it stings. Bees and wasps also emit phermones to alert other bees and wasps when they are threatened, so if you find a nest, kill the entire thing and not just one wasp-they'll "call" others and it can be fatal. |

Are they big? They may be ground wasps and they will build more underground nests unless all killed, but can be killed with ammonia. |

Also I have a couple of those mud things under my roof! Its really small and has a tiny hole in it. I also have seen a little ( nest? Not sure what u call them) and I see a wasp on it everyday! I told Dh to get rid of it before it gets to big! It looks like a honeycom, but I didn't think wasps made those?? P.s I can't wait for winter!!! |
I HATE wasps! Ugh. Bees, too. But moreso wasps. I was about 6yrs old when I got stung by a pack of yellow jackets. About 30-40 fell on the ground off me, they were all in my clothes. Ugh, it was horrible. I still remember. Thank God I wasn't allergic. We were playing a game outside and I stepped on their hive in the ground in the corner of the house. I have no tips, but glad Pnut is feeling better! |
