Jelous Hubby I think they may be a problem with my furby and my hubby. He is soooooo jelous of " our " 4 month old pup BIG. He hates every bit of attention the dog gets from talking to cuddling. He refuses to call it our dog, always refering to him as "my" dog. When people come to visit, he is so loving and nice with him, but when we are together he changes to a colder attitude. He likes to play with him, but hates it when im the one giving our baby the attention. I never thought it possible for a grown man to be jelous of such a small animal, but im experiencing it first hand:rolleyes:. Deep down he loves him and many times ive caught him loving him and talking to him when he thinks im not around, but when we are together he pretends he dont care. Any advice on how to handle this situation or has anyone else experienced similar;) |
My husband won't actually say he is jealous but I give the dogs so much attention, they are more loving an appreciative of what I do. He will aggravate me sometimes by telling me I need to get rid of them. If I act like I am not upset by his remarks he decides to be quite. This is just his personality he isn't being mean, He loves the dogs as much as I do and is always buying them toys and treats, he talks to them, loves on them and does special things to make me jealous. Maybe it will just take time for your husband to get used to the puppy, especially if he is used to all the attention. Maybe you should get him his own Yorkie, we now have 4 and my husband has a boy and girl and I have a boy and girl, sort of, we love them all. As long is he isn't mean to the puppy I wouldn't be too worried they have a way of getting into your heart when you don't expect it. |
Get another dog, get rid of the hubby....... Rofl Just kidding |
Giver hubby some attention. |
I had a boyfriend once that was so jealous of myolder toy poodle foo-foo that he once let the dog out in the cold winter (the dog was 3 pounds) and wouldnt let him in (i wasnt home) so the dog ran up the road to my moms house and on the way there was picked up by the pizza delivery man whom I had to call to get him back!! He was always threaten to kill him with antifreeze...how could anyone be so jealous of a little dog??? My husband jokes about it all the time, but he gets just as much attention (lol) as my "babies" do.. but I do have to agree with one poster, try giving your hubster some more attention and see if that solves the problem... sometimes they can be so needy..((rolling eyes, lol)) |
I think we NEED our Yorkies. They give us something that no one else does. Total Acceptance and Unconditional Love. They never judge us. They don't take us for granted. They are always happy to see us. What ever we want to do or not do, is fine with them. They don't care if we are fat or thin, dressed up or in our PJs. They don't notice the dust on top the book shelf, or care if we have nice car or a raggy dented one. All they care about, is spending time with us. Jealous husbands ? I would ask them, 'Why do you think I like spending time with my Yorkie ?' Then I would tell them what I get from my Yorkie. I would not start complaining about what I don't get from them ( the boy friend, husband, sign. other). Let them think it over and see what happens. |
I have an ex that was real jealous of the dog. You love him better than me, he would say. Then, when our youngest son was born, the day we brought him home from the hospital, he said, you give him more attention than me. Duh, he's a baby. Thats only one of the reasons he is an ex. Now, I have a husband that loves our furbabies as much as me. In fact, when he comes in from work, they get kisses first. lol!!!!! Thats ok. with me. Tells alot about a person, how they treat animals. |

My HD is secretly jealous of Tibbs he says he just hates him but I know its because it's all the loves I give him! |
LOL My hubby only complains that I love my Ahi more than my kids. He's just playing and joking when he says it though. I guess I'm lucky that he loves her just as much. One morning he kissed Ahi and I goodbye before he went to work. I realized later that he forgot to kiss our girls. LOL :D Ahi gets super excited when he comes home from work. She doesn't get that excited when she sees me(after I come home from errands) for some reason. Could be that it's because i'm home with her all the time. :) |
i think its natural for men to be a little jealous. every male in my life (mom's bf, my brother, my father etc..) all say that "wow, i cant believe you love this DOG so much, your always kissing and loving on him" lol.. but i have seen them loving on him too. giving kisses and playing and treating. i often hope that when i get onto my next relationship, my bf will love Ziggy as much as my brother does. Dont worry about this, mean usually find it easier to pretend to be all hard and not in love with these tiny babies, but they are.. just give it time and encouragement, but dont force their relationship, it will develope.. hang in there |
give your Husband some special attention like alone time for just you and him and encourage him to be involved with the care of the dog. If the dog is the only one you give attention to sure hes going to be jealous that is just natural. |
My DH was always a 'big dog guy'. Little dogs were worthless. After many years, I put my foot down & said that this time was my turn. He finally agreed. He had an open attitude about it though. It didn't take long and Roxy had wormed her way into his heart, and he thinks she's really special. It wasn't long and he told me I got the best of the litter. He didn't even see the litter. Ha! Then he started taking her with him places, made her a seat in his big tractor, etc. I have to chuckle to myself everytime it happens. : ) Sometimes I would hear him talking sweet to her & loving on her when he didn't know I heard it. I make a point of not teasing him about it. Big is still young. Give him some time to work his number on your DH. It'll probably happen. Sometimes these guys just need to get over themselves and grow up. If he's like this with Big, he's likely to be like this with skinbabies too. This will be good practice. The only other time DH copped an attitude over a dog was when I got a pom/beagle mix years ago. She was the best dog we'd ever had. All she ever wanted from DH was to love him. He acted like fool everytime she got near him. Now we have an even smaller dog and he's nuts over her. Go figure! Good luck! |
