What is a CGC ? I read about this in the pit bull thread and didn't know what it was. I thought I'd post a thread for it alone so that anyone else wondering could find out. |
Maybe 'Canine Good Citizen'????? |
Canine Good Citizen |
Canine Good Citizen. Once your dog has taken all obediance classes, you can take this test. It's basically a certificate saying your dog is a good citizen and behaves well in public. Such as it can sit and be pet by strangers and be OK and lots of other things. It does have to pass EVERY part of the test or it can't get the CGC certificate. it's a WONDERFUL thing for your dog to have. Hope that helps! :) Oh yeah, just about any training facility is certified to give you the test. |
a cgc is the canine good citizens certificate. It is a very good way to make sure any dog is socialable and not aggressive. It's basically just obedience training but obedience in social situations as well. The akc has a list of cgc testers that are available in your area. In fact they just got a bit stricter on the testers as well which is good. Your temperment test is a bit more involved and your dog has only two chances to pass. there are not as many t.t testers but again the akc can give you a list of trainers and dates for testing. sue |
