Stinky girl, can't give her a bath! Maddie had surgery last week and she is in desperate need of a bath! After the puppy enema, the surgery stuff and just plain yuck of not having a bath for 3 weeks, she is super stinky. When she has runny poos I wiped her with baby wipes, so she doesn't have any poo on her and she still has stitches so she can't have a "real" bath for another week (she had bladder stone surgery). We are staying at my parents' house this weekend and they are not going to be happy about how smelly she is. I usually give her a bath the morning that we go there because they are not dog people..... Any suggestions on the best products to freshen her up? I have grooming wipes, but they really don't seem to work very well..... |
Poor baby. You could try a waterless bath product. Petco and Petsmart have a couple of choices, but they are still liquids and sort of "chemically," if that makes sense. When Max could not have his head washed for 6 weeks, I used warm, damp washcloths (not dripping wet) and combed and combed. We also used doggy bath wipes and baby bath wipes. Combing helps clean each hair shaft. Clean the comb frequently as you work. |
There are waterless spray on shampoos available for dogs. They also sell pet wipes to wipe down your dogs coat. Might be worth a try. I have heard some people use baby wipes but I don't know if that is good for a dog or not. |
I've seen this used after a surgery. Use a damp cloth for wiping down then run a dryer sheet over the pup. voila smells better lol |
We used a waterless bath foam after their spay/neuter surgery. It didn't really get them clean but it did make them smell a bit better. I think we got it at Petco. |
