Hats off to those who groom 4 Attachment(s) Oh the torture of grooming! I just couldn't take it anymore. I cut her top knot off 2 weeks ago in frustration in trying to keeping the bow in. You would think after 5 months she would get used to it. As her hair got longer and I had to continously comb/brush everyday to prevent matting, I gave in! I took her to the groomer. Thank goodness I love my groomer! But to those who groom yorkies with a cotton coat ( like Villette) I applaud you! I really have to hand it to you. If I missed 2 two days- knots and matts. Chanel hair is so long compare to Roxie's. I don't know how you do it. The 1st picture is her after playing- look at that hair.! Looks like I have never combed it. The rest is today after her grooming. I think I will just keep it like that! :p |
She looks great! I bet she feels a lot better, too. |
I know what you are talking about Herk loves a bath, but to brush his hair is a major chore. He hates it. I never get a complete brushing. I cut around his eyes myself. It looks so much better. I don't know how people get clothes on these babies. I have one of the most hyper dogs around. I put a new sweater on him last night and that was a major job. It was not on there 2 minutes and he had eaten a large hole in it. :omg: I love him but he pushes my patience. |
She looks beautiful either way and may as well go with the one thats easiest on both of you! |
I think she looks adorable in her new hairdo. :p I'm certain that you can tell a difference in how she acts, too. I remember whenever I cut Muffin's short after it being long that she acted like she felt like a million dollars! :D |
She looks Great! I know they all look so beautiful with the long coats and I wish I had the patience to keep my yorkies coats long but it is so much easier when they are cut. Maybe some day..... Tracy :) :aimeeyork :) |

I don't know if this is the right place to ask but I will anyway. What do you mean by a cotton coat? I think that is describing our new puppy's coat. Our other yorkie's coat is smooth and hardly ever tangles. The new puppy however gets mats and look horrible all the time. I thought maybe he wasn't getting enough vitamins or something. So is this a genetic thing? Sorry bout my ignorence. :aimeeyork |
She looks great! Grooming is hard!! |

This is how it is described here along with a silky coat: There are 2 kinds of coats in Yorkies, and there are 2 ways of maintaining their coat. If you have lots of time for grooming, you could keep their coat long - in which case, I would suggest the silk coat.(that is a coat that most closely resembles human hair and that generally hangs straight). If you are like me, and don't have the time or desire for the almost daily brushing, you can keep the coat in a puppy cut,(short all over), or keep the body short and the face and legs long. If you plan on going this route, then you could also consider a cotton coat (the hair is softer and thicker with a bit of a curl). If not trimmed, this coat will tend to mat, and be difficult to maintain. I trim mine myself in a puppy cut (they really do stay looking like puppies). Both moms are soft coats, and they are bred to silk coats, so usually there are both types in the litters. http://www.exoticscanada.ca/terriers.html |

Roxie I think your baby is adorable either way. I think Gucci's hair is cottony. I chose to have her body trim and the rest a bit longer. She does mats a bit if I keep her clothes on. |
She looks so cute... A few people have told me that Lexi has a cotton coat. Some times I think maybe and others I think no way. I'm not sure but she has never had any knots or matts. Her eyes glow the orangeish brown color, but her hair is very smooth... |

I have always thought your Lexi reminds me of Roxie ( without the cotton :p). Roxie's eyes also glow orange brown. At the time I brought her I did not know anything about cotton vs silky coat. With everything I have now learned on Yorkie Talk- I now could have recognized it in her father and her as a puppy. Lexi's coat is smooth- as where Roxie's is only smooth in certain places. |
