No one has passed judgement on the fitness of the OP to own a dog. She posted that she couldn't/wouldn't spend $500 to pay for a pup. Ladyjane posted back the very reasonable reply that the initial cost of the dog is the smallest part of the investment. She sees on a daily basis people turning over dogs because they can't/won't pay for medical care. We aren't talking the $10k that you threw out, but far lower numbers for things like LP, Liver shunt and the like. Stick around here long enough and you will see countless people come on and give up dogs because they can't pay for even routine care. It's not elitist to say that, it's reality. I, for one, hope she keeps chanting that message over and over. If posts like mine and hers are distracting to you, please scroll over to the user control panel and edit your ignore list. I'm headed over there right now. |
Sorry- I referred to LadyJane when I should have said Nancy. The remainder of my post stands. |
Ojai: I think it is wonderful that you are helping both the OP and the dog's best interests. These women were there to care for this dog when no one else was. I hope things work out for the little dog and the OP. Thank you for caring enough to get involved. |
Ojai- I also think what your doing for the OP and her baby is wonderful!! You sound like you know what your talking about!! I hope nothing but the best for the OP and I hope the drama people insist on adding to this thread doesn't discourage you or add to any negative emotions that you may have been experiencing lately! Keep your head up and everything will go just fine!! Keep us updated!! :] |

Gracielove and KaseyLyn05: Your support is sweet and welcome. Let's see if we can get Lily Back! |
I'm glad to see she has a fighter in her corner. :D I hope Lily gets to go back to her real home, I know you'll be watching over any weird contractual stipulations, lol, I hope the paperwork gets transferred, which is a legal mark of ownership, as well as any microchips she may have (a lot of people forget those). And as soon as possible, a restraining order on this breeder, lol. |
You have to get her to take the woman to court. She clearly doesn't even care much for the suability of the dog.. and clearly the police could give 2 flying poos about the health of the dog and the environment she is in. 50 dollars is worth it especially if you also fight for her to cover your 'legal' costs... She paid for her. If this woman stole w/e you all paid from Kay, would she just say oh ok... its not worth it? NO IF Kay adopted a precious baby and that other lady was the actual mother who put her up, would Kay just let her take the baby back? NO... Legally it is not ok... This isn't any different -__- I'm so upset at those police officers being so lazy:mad::thumbdown |

Regardless of the legality or injustice of what has occurred here, how can someone that can't afford a new puppy have the money for a court fight? Are you providing your services pro bono? I feel sorry for the dog. The breeder and the original owner have both bounced this dog around all of it's life. |

Miss Flora --- I'd like to hear from you since you are the one going through all this. How are you? I hope you are well. |

I think everyone needs to stop the arguing and nit-picking and just support the OP and her situation. She came on here for support, not to see a bunch of bickering. Let's get back on track. I believe most of us hope she gets Lily back and anxiously await any updates toward that end. |
Just a quick update for those who have shown so much concern: OP and I have spoken at length and have a Plan A we are attempting that may be a less aggressive way for her to at least get her hands on Lily, an urgent priority. If Plan A works, then I will take over in silencing this scary so-called "breeder." (Belle Noir, you are on the right track!) If if Plan A doesn't work, then we have a Plan B which will be trickier, potentially more time-consuming for Lily, and require my immediate involvement. There are many more aspects to not just OP's dilemma, but poor Lily's as well. But that is OP's story to tell, if she so chooses. I have let OP know that she has many supporters here, which came as a relief to her, because she was rather hurt at what she perceived were several attacks on her when she simply asked for help. To Jezebel Whatever: You are correct; I should have said I have been following for years this "site," not "thread"; and as for my date of officially joining: thank you for correcting my math. It has been a long year, and I was very busy when I took the time to type that response. So to be clear: I have been following this site since at least early 2009, and officially joined eight months ago, although I never posted until last week. In fact, to cheer up OP, I told her about stumbling across a thread I had missed one recent Saturday afternoon, and by 10:00 pm I was still reading it with my mouth hanging open. The back-stabbing! The melodrama! The threats! The misinterpreting of the law! The cast of characters! The "banned" that appeared next to every name who posted a differing opinion! The way the thread kept disappearing, and like a sleuth I had to track down its reappearance elsewhere! The horror and hilarity of it all! Anyway, she had a good laugh, and she certainly needed it. |
