Kionini, that's exactly what I would have done. I too have had the well, where I come from we do things this way, I just tell them things are different here, and yes, you can go to jail or be fined if you do this or that.. Pixie has the powers of the cute, and people practically squeal when they see her. Everyone wants to know about where they can get one just like her, and how much was she, and only one person ever asked me about potential health problems in the breed, and what type of personality and grooming. I have referred people here before I even joined because of the scope and depth of information that can be found on the breed. Sadly, too many people see dogs as a disposable commodity, as was said. And some people should never be intrusted with a living organism of ANY kind, least of all a dog. The hardest thing is when your own family turns out to be the kind of person you don't care to associate with, because of how they treat their animals. |
I have worked in the human medical field for many years. It is sickening the number of teen pregnancies coming in all the time. These are not unplanned pregnancies. The girls and many times their boyfriends want a baby. It's like a toy to them. They have no touch with reality. They have never had to be concerned about working or any type of responsibility. Watching them come in for years after that baby is born is even sadder. All the pain and suffering that comes as a result of this behavior is heartbreaking! And the drama! Although this goes on with teenagers I have to say we see much of it in the supposed more mature people as well. What I am saying is that our society has sunk to a new all time low in a large sector of the country. When I see how babies and children are treated I think there is little hope for the animals. If people don't have the brains to wait and have children in a established family setting why would they think of the responsibility of caring for an animal? |
You have my sympathies. I cannot even watch or fathom watching shows like 16 and pregnant and teen mom. It makes me nauseous. And then to have to see it as a part of your career? That would make it even all that worse, as you CAN'T escape or avoid it. I would blame the parents.. it's largely the fault of not being responsible in your duties to your child. But there is also this culture that makes this OK, somehow and I don't understand how that culture came to be. That same culture is responsible for this everything is disposable mindset so many have. It drives me insane. And all I can do is feel for the poor creatures in the care of people like that, be they human or otherwise. |
