so i have decided to trust a groomer one more time... so last december, one week before christmas, i took zowi and pixie to the groomer i had used for the previous year... she always did a great job with my zowi and my late nika. (prior to that i had groomed them myself.) we discussed exactly how i wanted them done and they had zowi's info on record of how they always styled her. it was pixie's 1st visit there so they made record and wrote down exactly what i wanted. (just hygenic cutting and trimming up to look neater.) i was told they could do what i wanted, no problem! finally, about 5 hours later (after i was told about 3 hours for thier grooms) i picked up my babies and... THEY DID NOT LISTEN! both girls topknots were cut/shaved off, and thier hair was cut / shaved down way too short! :( mind you, in the middle of winter! why in the world would they cut off thier topknots?!?! ugh! pixie's had just got long enough too. all the effort to keep thier coats ---- shaved away! then i was told they were given the "standard yorkie cut." haha yeah right! standard cut would definately include leaving thier topknots! and i specifically said to leave thier topknots, and it was wrote down for them! sounds ridiculous, but i cried for 2 days! also when i picked them up there were 3 very large dogs roaming the salon freely which made me very nervous. (did not see them when i dropped my furkids off) not saying they would hurt my babies, but i don't know these dogs and zowi has "little dog syndrome" which means she has no fear of bossing a much larger dog and who knows how that dog would react... i was shocked being that i was so happy with them previously. so, as i am typing this, zowi and pixie are right outside our house with a new mobile groomer!!! a friend of mine gave her an excellent recommendation. i really like her so far. she asked lots of questions, has a very well kept mobile unit, listened to what i wanted, and even my shy little pixie didn't seem to mind her a bit! not to mention the convenience! i am not having the anxiety of dropping them off with someone other than our dogtor. no cages involved and they are being kept together throughout the process. no other doggies to worry about. ahhhh i am really hoping she does a great job because this seems like it will really work out!!! fingers crossed!!! no matter what... they are my babies, regardless of what they look like, and it will grow back just like it did before, right?!?! i can't wait to see them!!!!!:) |
Can you stay with the dog while they groom her? This was you can punch the person if they slip up! Trust but verify! |
This is exactly why I have decided to get my grooming certs. Im tired of taking Chase and not being listened too. |
Hope it turns out beautiful. |

4 Attachment(s) the girls are both done with their grooms and they look adorable! their hair is a little shorter than i wanted.... topknots a little shorter than i wanted, but i am very happy with how they look so it was a success! both are very happy acting, running around feeling good with their new cuts! lol ruthie the groomer locked her keys inside her running suv as she was getting ready to leave my house. she had an extra key inside the trailer but it was locked up too.... so i got the ladder and climbed up to a window, crawled inside, and got her spares out for her! :animal36 the 1st two pics are pixie and the next 2 are zowi with their new look |
They look very cute :) and they both look so happy! |
AWWWWWWW!!!!!! I have a Pixie too!!! I am lucky in that I found a salon owned by two ladies on the YTCA Breeder referral page (Vicki and Judith). My Pixie got her first grooming there (ear trim and butt shave). She screamed like she was being murdered, but I knew it was just puppy histrionics. I'm just glad that I know I can go there, and have my Pixie cared for by people who have intimate knowledge of the Yorkie breed. http://i822.photobucket.com/albums/z.../Photo0107.jpg (My Pixie after her ear trim, with firstborn human puppy and betta breeding tank in the background). I am glad to hear you have found someone that you have confidence in again. I am thinking that with any breed that has lots of hair and fur, this can be a nerve wracking thing. Confidence in your groomer to do your dogs right is paramount. |
Awww, your little ones look adorable in their new hairdos. I really like the cuts.:) |
I have a great groomer. She lives just a few miles away and has her business right in her own home. I don't think I would ever take Gracie to a commercial groomer. I take Gracie to this lady and I can pick her up in an hour and a half. She does exactly what I ask her to do. I used to know an elderly lady who was a groomer. She said she was very disappointed in what was being turned out as groomers. She said that mostly they just shave the dog and call that grooming. It takes no skill to shave a dog's fur off. Any of us could do that. Your dogs looks adorable. I can imagine how awful you felt the last time. It takes so long to let their fur grow out to a long length after they have had a short cut. |
They look very pretty after there groom. Its so hard to get a groomer that works good for you and you babies. |
morgan is going for his first grooming on august 20th/ probably just a bath and a little trimming. I want to get him used to it but he is such a baby, He screams even before they give him a shot. |
