Went on a rampage on facebook today! here's what I said after seeing several posts for free to good home cats and dogs in the local swap meet facebook page. People of Missouri I am sick and tired of your attitudes regarding animals. Pets are NOT disposable objects that you can just re home or get rid of each time you feel they no longer fit into your family's plans. There are too many pets in shelters right now. If you don't want a dog or cat for LIFE then don't get one at all. Stop giving them away just because you change your mind and for goodness sakes stop getting another one if you are giving away the ones you have! Also breeding for money is a SICK and GREEDY practice! There are better ways to make money than stuffing poor innocent animals in cages in your barn and forcing them to breed their entire lives. Oh yea and freaking spay and neuter your pets people! Overpopulation of animals is ridiculous don't be another reason a dog or cat dies. Keep your pets from breeding! It's the right thing to do. |
Rage on! Sometimes don't you wonder if anyone out there in the public at large is listening at all? |
:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: :D |
Lol, if you're not careful, people are going to start calling you a "LIBERAL!" |
Hell ya, that's what I'm talking about! :thumbup: |
Keep on doing what you're doing Rachel! And be proud if you are called a 'liberal'!! lol |
Preach on! |
LOL, that is almost worth joining FB for! I couldn't agree with you more :) |

I can see, and am all for your passion about the excess puppy mills in Missouri and the way some view dogs as a commodity, but your attack on everyone who lives in Missouri is unfair. I know there are just as many people living in Missouri, if not more, who love their pets as much as we on YT do. If you really want to help those poor dogs, contact the congressman and governor of Missouri and let them know they need to put a new law in their books prohibiting the breeding of small animals for profit, and change the number of cats and dogs anyone can own, even if they "are" outside the city limits. Send them a hundred emails a week until they make changes!! I've been doing exactly this in my state, (which by the way is a HUGE state) for a long time, and now am starting to see a big change. Of course I have lots of people on my side that are doing the same. Remember UNITED WE STAND. Well, we CAN do this if we stick together. |
:thumbup: :thumbup: Can't agree with you more!! :D |
Thanks for the rage!!!! I would definitley "like" your rage on facebook! |

Thanks Nancy! :yeahthat: Those that are loving MO pet parents I wasn't referring to. In general the state and it's citizens have a poor attitude about pets and that they can just get them and dump them when they feel their family can't do it anymore. Can you imagine the scarring on these poor souls? Pets have feelings and feel loss when a family dumps them or rehomes them. Don't have them if you can't commit to them for their entire "short" little lives! |

Where is the disconnect? The suffering and abandonment of helpless animals makes me sick... yet, as a business person wanting to support the efforts of the Humane Societyl, my choices are limited to helping raise funds for a giant shelter, with a $450,000 estimated operating cost per year. I soon found out that 'no kill' means that in the best of shelters, 80 to 85% of animals are euthanized... the 'no kill' refers to the keeping of animals deemed adoptable... aggressive, diseased, old, unattractive, animals are euthanized on the spot -- to the tune of 4,000 to 5,000 animals a year. Wouldn't we be better served with a mandatory, free or almost free spay/neuter ordinance that would prevent these animals from ending up in the shelter to begin with? The answer: There would be no voter support by male citizens for the mandatory neutering of their dogs! OMG! |
I don't think anyone in MO who is a responsible pet owner would have taken offense to Rachel's rant. |

Im agree with you 100% girl, you go, they are part of your family at least for some of us |
guess who doesn't like my rant...MY OWN MOM!! She snuck onto my aunt's facebook page under her login and saw my posts and got really pissed. the people i'm offending may be her and dad's customers, or they may have to hear about their radical daughter from everyone in town. oh God forbid it. LOL :p she's also upset that my timing was off. according to her it hurts my aunt(whom she's stalking me under) because my aunt and uncle recently found a friend of theirs had comitted suicide and some of their friends might be dog breeders. Well i'm really really sorry that bad things happen in small towns, but my rant on the entire state of Missouri is not directly attacking any friend of my aunt's or anyone that is sad over the loss of this friend. I get that there are more important things to THEM in life than the lives of (just dogs) but to me dogs lives are being lost everyday and no one cares at all. what if more people cared about the pets. dogs can't choose their lives ends. we kill them. we choose to end them. i agree suicide of a person is a horrible sad topic and maybe the timing was a bit ironic, but i'm sorry thousands of dogs and cats are starving, dying everyday and no one cares at all, they are just animals to them. i hate this. and BTW i'm not a liberal...i'm the most conservative person I know. :D |
oh help me! so, i guess we're supposed to be 'huggie feely' i think that's how stuff like puppy mills are permitted to flourish outside of legislation . . . call it 'alternative farming' give it a license, and you're good to go. help!!! :thumbdown |
I am almost positive that Moses came from a mini-mill situation. You might think less of me, but after we lost our beloved Lab, Bruno, to cancer, I was distraught! I started looking at our local online ads at puppies. I found an ad for "the cutest yorkie poos ever" and fell in love over the Internet! I made arrangements to go see the puppies, and took my best friend and daughter in law for moral support. When I met Moses and his siblings, I was a goner! We stayed for quite a while and during the course of conversation, the owners mentioned that they were going to have to get rid of the mama dog because of a job loss. But this was her third litter, and she was done having pups. It made my heart sink as I realized that they were no better than a puppy mill and now were discarding the sweet mama dog. I nearly didn't go back to pick Mo up because I didn't want to support what they were doing. But then I thought "I can give at least one of those babies a good home and a great life!" Now our baby Moses is so loved and is the light of all of our lives! Yes, I miss Bruno and yes, this little boy is way different than Bruno, but he is OURS and we love him, regardless of his heartless breeders! Don't think badly of me because I bought a puppy mill baby! We love him with all of our hearts! |
